A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the slats or flaps.
   (2) Make sure that the safety barriers are in position.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the flaps are fully retracted (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009).
   (2) Make sure that the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS is installed on the flap/slat control lever.
   (3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) is in position below the applicable flap track 2, zone 531 (631).

4. Procedure
Subtask 57-55-11-410-056-B
A. Preparation for Lifting
   (1) Move the movable fairing, to align the control rod (7) with the flap drive lever.
   (2) Temporarily install the control rod (7) with the bolt (11), the sliding bush (5), the washer (4) and the nut (3).
   (3) Temporarily install the top cover (1) with some of the screws (2).
   (4) Make sure that the movable fairing is correctly adjusted (Ref. AMM TASK 57-55-11-400-001).
   (5) Hold the movable fairing and remove the nut (3), the washer (4) the sliding bush (5) and the bolt (11).
   (6) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the interfaces of these items:
  • the bolt (11) and the sliding bush (5)
  • the flap drive control lever
  • the control rod (7)
  • the washer (4) and the nut (3)

B. Lifting of the Movable Fairing
   (1) Lift the movable fairing, to align the link control rod (7) with the flap drive lever.
   (2) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) to:
  • the interfaces of the sliding bush (5) and the bolt (11), but not the threads.
   (3) Install the bolt (11), the sliding bush (5), the washer (4) and the nut (3).
   (4) Torque the nut (3) to between 1.5 and 1.4 m.daN (11.06 and 10.32 lbf.ft ) T.
   (5) Examine the related positions of the hole in the bolt (11) and the slot in the nut (3).
   (6) Torque the nut (3) until the next slot aligns with the hole to 2.0 m.daN (14.75 lbf.ft) maximum.
   (7) Safety the nut (3) with the new
AIPC 27-54-05-33-040 COTTER PIN (6) or AIPC 27-54-85-32-110 COTTER PIN (6).
   (8) Install the bonding strap (8) on the flap drive lever with the bolt (9), and the washer (10) (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (9) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean:
  • the screws (2) and the interfaces of the cover (1).
   (10) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) and Release Agent-- Water Base - (Material No.14DAB1) to:
  • the interfaces of the cover (1).
   (11) Apply a thin layer of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the screws (2).
   (12) Install the cover (1) with the screws (2).
   (13) Apply a bead of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) in the groove between the cover (1) and the movable fairing.
Subtask 57-55-11-410-057-F ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Lifting of the Movable Fairing
   (1) Lift the movable fairing, to align the link control rod (7) with the flap drive lever.
   (2) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) to:
  • the interfaces of the sliding bush (5) and the bolt (11), but not the threads.

   (9) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean:
  • the screws (2) and the interfaces of the cover (1).
   (10) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) or Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Fillet Structure (Material No.06AEB2) and Release Agent-- Water Base - (Material No.14DAB1) to:
  • the interfaces of the cover (1).
   (11) Apply a thin layer of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.06LCG9) to the screws (2).
   (12) Install the cover (1) with the screws (2).
   (13) Apply a bead of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) in the groove between the cover (1) and the movable fairing.

   (1) Do an operational test of the flap system (Ref. AMM TASK 27-54-00-710-001). Make sure that the movable fairing operates correctly.

A. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (4) Remove the safety barriers.
   (5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
