A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the slats are fully extended (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-004).
   (2) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is installed on the flap/slat control lever.
   (3) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the slats.
   (4) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE is in position below the applicable access panel 521BT(621BT).

4. Procedure
Subtask 57-41-37-210-063-A
A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean:
  • The interface of the aircraft structure
  • The mating surfaces of the access panel (6).
   (3) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) on the interface of the aircraft structure.
   (4) Apply Release Agent-- Liquid Wax - (Material No.14DBB1) on the mating surfaces of the access panel (6).
   (5) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.

B. Installation of Access Panel 521BT(621BT)
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ACCESS PANEL SCREWS ARE INSTALLED IN THEIR CORRECT POSITIONS. INCORRECT INSTALLATION OF THE SCREWS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SLATS DURING SLAT MOVEMENT.
   (1) Hold the access panel (6) in position.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU INSTALL EACH OF THE SCREWS IN ITS CORRECT POSITION. THE SCREWS HAVE DIFFERENT LENGTHS. IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL EACH OF THE SCREWS IN ITS CORRECT POSITION, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (2) Install the screws (1), (2), (3), (4) and (5).
   (3) Tighten the screws gradually (Ref. AMM TASK 20-21-11-911-001).
   (4) Make sure that the access panel (6) is correctly aligned with the adjacent panels.
   (5) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) in the space between the access panel (6) and the adjacent surface.
Subtask 57-41-37-420-063-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Installation of Access Panel 521BT(621BT)
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ACCESS PANEL SCREWS ARE INSTALLED IN THEIR CORRECT POSITIONS. INCORRECT INSTALLATION OF THE SCREWS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SLATS DURING SLAT MOVEMENT.
   (1) Hold the access panel (6) in position.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU INSTALL EACH OF THE SCREWS IN ITS CORRECT POSITION. THE SCREWS HAVE DIFFERENT LENGTHS. IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL EACH OF THE SCREWS IN ITS CORRECT POSITION, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (2) Install the screws (1), (2), (3), (4) and (5).
   (3) Tighten the screws gradually (Ref. AMM TASK 20-21-11-911-001).
   (4) Make sure that the access panel (6) is correctly aligned with the adjacent panels.
   (5) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Fillet 120 degre Celsius (Material No.06ABB2) in the space between the access panel (6) and the adjacent surface.

A. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

   (2) Retract the slats (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-005).

C. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Remove the access platform(s).
   (2) Remove the safety barriers.
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (4) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
