3. Job Set-up

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) are in position.
   (2) Make sure that the slats are fully extended (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-004).
   (3) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is installed on the flap/slat control lever.
   (4) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the slats.
   (5) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE is in position below the applicable access panel 522AT(622AT).

4. Procedure
Subtask 57-41-37-210-057-A
A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Use a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean:
  • the interface of the aircraft structure
  • the mating surfaces of the access panel (2).
   (3) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) to the interface of the aircraft structure.
   (4) Apply Release Agent-- Liquid Wax - (Material No.14DBB1) to the mating surfaces of the access panel (2).
   (5) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.

B. Installation of Access Panel 522AT( 622AT)
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ACCESS PANEL SCREWS ARE INSTALLED IN THEIR CORRECT POSITIONS. INCORRECT INSTALLATION OF THE SCREWS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SLATS DURING SLAT MOVEMENT.
   (1) Hold the access panel (2) in position.
   (2) Loosely install the bolts in their correct positions as follows:
  • The bolts (1), (7) and (8)
  • The bolts (5)
  • The bolt (4)
  • The bolt (3)
  • The bolt (6).
   (3) Tighten the bolts gradually (Ref. AMM TASK 20-21-11-911-001).
   (4) Make sure that the access panel (2) is correctly aligned with the adjacent panels.
   (5) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) in the space between the access panel (2) and the adjacent surface.

B. Installation of Access Panel 522AT( 622AT)
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ACCESS PANEL SCREWS ARE INSTALLED IN THEIR CORRECT POSITIONS. INCORRECT INSTALLATION OF THE SCREWS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SLATS DURING SLAT MOVEMENT.
   (1) Hold the access panel (2) in position.
   (2) Loosely install the bolts in their correct positions as follows:
  • The bolts (1), (7) and (8)
  • The bolts (5)
  • The bolt (4)
  • The bolt (3)
  • The bolt (6).
   (3) Tighten the bolts gradually (Ref. AMM TASK 20-21-11-911-001).
   (4) Make sure that the access panel (2) is correctly aligned with the adjacent panels.
   (5) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Fillet 120 degre Celsius (Material No.06ABB2) in the space between the access panel (2) and the adjacent surface.

A. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

   (1) Remove the access platform(s).
   (2) Remove the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION from the flap/slat control lever.
   (3) Retract the slats (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-005).

C. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Remove the safety barriers.
   (2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (3) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
