A. Safety Precautions
   (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (2) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the landing gears or the landing gear doors.
   (3) Make sure that a ground lock sleeve is installed on each MLG lockstay actuator (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the main landing gear doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the sidestay-actuator attachment-bracket, zone 571(671).
4. Procedure
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE TASKS ON THE WING TRAILING EDGE:
  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
  • MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

A. Preparation for Inspection
   (1) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the inspection area.

B. Detailed Inspection of Outer-Wing Rear-Spar-Aft-Face Sidestay-Fitting
   (1) Examine the sidestay attachment bracket. Make sure that:
  • there is no damage
  • there is no corrosion
  • there are no cracks
  • the surface protection is in the correct condition.
NOTE: If necessary, refer to the SRM 572600 for the correct repair procedure.
   (2) Examine the sealant on the bushes of the sidestay attachment bracket for damage.
NOTE: If damage is found, you must contact AIRBUS.

C. Application of Temporary Protection System (TPS)
CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY TEMPORARY PROTECTION SYSTEM (TPS) TYPE 3 ON THE MOVABLE COMPONENTS. USE ONLY TPS TYPE 1 GRADE 2. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, THE MECHANISMS WILL NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY.
   (1) If there is a TPS layer, do a check of the condition and integrity of the TPS layer (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001):
NOTE: Airbus recommends that you always apply a new layer of TPS. This is to make sure that the TPS layer continues to give satisfactory corrosion protection. If, after the check, you think that the TPS layer is in the correct condition, you can apply a new layer as a spray on the remaining layer.
   (2) If the TPS layer has local damage, remove the damaged TPS layer (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001) and apply a new layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing & Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ADB1) :
   (3) If, before the inspection, there was:
  • Removal of the TPS layer
    or
  • Cleaning of the inspection area with high pressure water, steam, solvents and/or cleaning agents.
Apply a full new layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing & Heavy Duty Hard Film - (Material No.12ADB1) on the inspection area (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Close the main landing gear doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).

B. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Remove the safety barriers.
   (2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
