A. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position in front of the applicable passenger/crew door at the zone 831 or 841 or 832 or 842.
   (2) Open the applicable passenger/crew door 831 or 841 or 832 or 842 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-010-001).
   (3) Do the special precautions before you start work on the passenger/crew door. (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-860-001)

B. Cleaning of the Window Pane
   (1) Clean the window pane (Ref. AMM TASK 56-21-13-100-002)
4. Procedure

A. Inspection
   (1) Do a detailed visual inspection of the door window pane:
     (a) Examine the window panes for defects with a flashlight and magnifying glass from different directions. You must replace the window panes with defects that are more than the permitted limits.
     (b) Measure the length of the damage.
       1 Put transparent graph paper on one surface of the window pane.
       2 Point the flashlight at 90 degrees to the opposite surface of the window pane.
       3 The damage shows as a dark line on the graph paper. Make a mark at each end of the line and measure the distance between the two marks.
     (c) Measure the depth of the damage.
       1 Put transparent graph paper on one surface of the window pane.
       2 Point the flashlight :
  • at 45 degrees to the opposite surface of the window pane.
  • at 90 degrees to the longitudinal axis of the damage.
       3 The damage shows as a dark area on the graph paper. Make a line around the dark area and measure the maximum width.
       4 Multiply the dimension by 1.6 to get the correct depth.

A. Close Access
   (1) Do the special precautions after you do work on the door. (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-860-002)
   (2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (3) Close the applicable passenger/crew door 831 or 841 or 832 or 842 (Ref. AMM TASK 52-10-00-410-001).
   (4) Remove the access platform(s).
