E. Sealant Application
(1) Apply a bead of Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Quick Curing - (Material No.06ABF1) or Silicone Sealant-Windshield Two parts Quick Curing - (Material No.06BEC1) at the intersection between the retainers and the structure to fill the remaining spaces.
(b) Do a visual check of the Adhesive Film Tape-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.05RAB9) after each flight.
(c) Remove the Adhesive Film Tape-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.05RAB9) after the sealant cure time.
(4) Clean the external surfaces of the structure with Non Aqueous Cleaner-Non structural use - - (Material No.08BPA1) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
Subtask 56-11-12-420-059-A (1) Apply a bead of Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Quick Curing - (Material No.06ABF1) or Silicone Sealant-Windshield Two parts Quick Curing - (Material No.06BEC1) at the intersection between the retainers and the structure to fill the remaining spaces.
NOTE: You can use PR1436B, DAPCO 72, PR1826B or PR1828B. The sealant cure time and the mixing ratio are given in the sealant-kit manufacturer instructions.
NOTE: The primers related to the sealants help to get a better bond. These primers are mandatory and it is necessary to apply them before the related sealants.
(2) If there is not sufficient time for the sealant to cure before the aircraft takes off, do the procedure that follows: CAUTION:
BEFORE YOU APPLY THE TAPE, MAKE SURE THAT THE SEALANT IS NOT TACKY. IF IT IS TACKY, THE TAPE CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SEALANT.
CAUTION:
WHEN YOU APPLY THE TAPE, MAKE SURE THAT THERE ARE NO BUBBLES. THIS WILL HELP TO PREVENT THE REMOVAL OF THE TAPE DURING FLIGHT.
(a) Put a strip of Adhesive Film Tape-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.05RAB9) on the intersection areas. (b) Do a visual check of the Adhesive Film Tape-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.05RAB9) after each flight.
(c) Remove the Adhesive Film Tape-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.05RAB9) after the sealant cure time.
NOTE: During the flight, the temperatures are less than 10 deg. C and the sealant does not dry. The flight hours are not included in the sealant cure time.
(3) Remove the remaining sealant from the intersection areas and make sure that the bead of sealant is continuous. (4) Clean the external surfaces of the structure with Non Aqueous Cleaner-Non structural use - - (Material No.08BPA1) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
