C. Install Locking Devices
(1) Put the 98D27903500000 PIN-SIDE STICK LOCKING in the CAPT and F/O side stick controllers.

D. Safety Precautions
(1) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in the flight compartment to tell persons not to operate the flight controls.
(2) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the hydraulic systems.
(3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position at zone 334 for the left hand THS and/or zone 344 for the right hand THS.
Subtask 55-16-00-010-054-A (1) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in the flight compartment to tell persons not to operate the flight controls.
(2) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the hydraulic systems.
(3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position at zone 334 for the left hand THS and/or zone 344 for the right hand THS.
E. Access
(1) Open the access panels 334AT 334BB 334BT 334CT 334DB 334DT 334FB 334HB and/or 344AT 344BB 344BT 344CT 344DB 344DT 344FB 344HB. (Ref. AMM TASK 55-13-11-000-001)

F. Preparation of the Inspection Area
(1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do a satisfactory inspection of the area.
(2) If not, clean the inspection area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(3) If there is a TPS layer and if it does not let you do a satisfactory inspection, remove the TPS layer (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do a satisfactory inspection of the area.
(2) If not, clean the inspection area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(3) If there is a TPS layer and if it does not let you do a satisfactory inspection, remove the TPS layer (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).

A. Detailed Inspection
(1) Make a detailed inspection of the horizontal stabilizer hinge fittings, support ribs and actuator fittings for the elevator and the adjacent structure for:

- delamination,
- deterioration of the structure,
- scratches, marks and dents,
- cracks,
- corrosion,
- condition of the bearings,
- damaged paintwork. gives details.
B. Application of Corrosion Preventive Compound
(1) Cover the area adjacent to the elevator hinge supports and the attachment fittings with Adhesive Film Tape-Masking or Labelling Film Polyester - (Material No.05RCB1) and Adhesive Film Tape-Masking - - (Material No.05RDA1) .
(2) If there is a TPS layer, do a check of the condition and integrity of the TPS layer (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
(4) If, before the inspection, there was:
5. Close-up(1) Cover the area adjacent to the elevator hinge supports and the attachment fittings with Adhesive Film Tape-Masking or Labelling Film Polyester - (Material No.05RCB1) and Adhesive Film Tape-Masking - - (Material No.05RDA1) .
(2) If there is a TPS layer, do a check of the condition and integrity of the TPS layer (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
NOTE: Airbus recommends that you always apply a new layer of TPS. This is to make sure that the TPS layer continues to give satisfactory corrosion protection. If, after the check, you think that the TPS layer is in the correct condition, you can apply a new layer as a spray on the existing layer.
(3) If the TPS layer has local damage, remove the damaged TPS layer and apply a new layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound_Water Displacing Soft Film - (Material No.12ABC1) or Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Hard Film - (Material No.12ABB1) on the inspection area (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001). (4) If, before the inspection, there was:
- Removal of the TPS layer
- Or cleaning of the inspection area with high pressure water, steam, solvents and/or cleaning agents
Apply a full new layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound_Water Displacing Soft Film - (Material No.12ABC1) or Corrosion Preventive Compound-Water Displacing Hard Film - (Material No.12ABB1) on the inspection area.
NOTE: Do not apply the corrosion preventive compound to the bush or bearing of each fitting assembly.
(5) Remove the masking tape from the adjacent structure area. Subtask 55-16-00-410-056-A
A. Visual Inspection
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.

(2) Remove the access platform(s).
