A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is set to NORM.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was set to OFF not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the ENG/MODE selector switch and the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
(2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 54-57-17-040-057-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is set to NORM.

B. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser
Subtask 54-57-17-010-060-A WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER IS LOCKED. IF NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE REVERSER.
(1) Make the thrust reverser unserviceable for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-807). C. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:
(a) For the left pylon: at zone 415
(b) For the right pylon: at zone 425.
(2) Remove the thrust-reverser cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-11-000-803):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)
- 451AL and 452AR.
(b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 2)
- 461AL and 462AR.
(3) Remove the pylon lateral access-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-21-000-804):
(a) For the left pylon: 415AL and 415BR
(b) For the right pylon: 425AL and 425BR.
(4) Remove the pylon-to-wing access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-000-806):
(a) For the left pylon: 413CL
(b) For the right pylon: 424CR.
4. Procedure(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:
(a) For the left pylon: at zone 415
(b) For the right pylon: at zone 425.
(2) Remove the thrust-reverser cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-11-000-803):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)
- 451AL and 452AR.
(b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 2)
- 461AL and 462AR.
(3) Remove the pylon lateral access-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 54-51-21-000-804):
(a) For the left pylon: 415AL and 415BR
(b) For the right pylon: 425AL and 425BR.
(4) Remove the pylon-to-wing access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 54-53-11-000-806):
(a) For the left pylon: 413CL
(b) For the right pylon: 424CR.

A. Removal of the Thrust-Reverser Cowl Hinge-Fitting at RIB3
(1) Loosen the nuts (6).
(2) Remove the nuts (6) and the washers (5).
(4) Record the position of the shim (1) and the location and the thickness of the peel shim installed on the shim (1).
(1) Loosen the nuts (6).
(2) Remove the nuts (6) and the washers (5).
CAUTION:
WHEN YOU REMOVE THE SCREWS, MAKE SURE THAT YOU RECORD THE CORRECT POSITION OF EACH OF THEM. THE SCREWS HAVE DIFFERENT LENGTHS.
(3) Remove the screws (3) and (4). (4) Record the position of the shim (1) and the location and the thickness of the peel shim installed on the shim (1).
NOTE: This is necessary for the installation of the new shim (1).
(5) Remove the thrust-reverser cowl hinge-fitting (2) and the shim (1).
