FUNCTIONAL CHECK OF MANUAL AND AUTOMATIC SLIDE RELEASE SIGNAL.

NOTE: The effectivity of this task is "ALL". To know if this task is applicable to your aircraft, refer to the MPD task applicability. The information on weight variant groups is given in the MPD and SRM introductions.

NOTE: This task is not applicable to the deactivated emergency exits.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 52-21-00-010-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Get Access
(1) Open the aft cargo-compartment door to install the 98D52307515000 SAFETY LOCK-ACTUATOR,CARGO DOORS (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position at the aft cargo-compartment door.
(3) Remove linings 151CW and 152CW in the aft cargo compartment to get access to inflation reservoirs 7506MM and 7507MM.

Subtask 52-21-00-010-050-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Get Access
(1) Open the aft cargo-compartment door to install the 98D52307515000 SAFETY LOCK-ACTUATOR,CARGO DOORS (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position at the aft cargo-compartment door.
(3) Remove linings 151SW and 152SW in the aft cargo compartment to get access to inflation reservoirs 7506MM and 7507MM.

B. Preparation for the Test

Operation of the Emergency Exit Hatch ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

(1) Make sure that the emergency exit hatch (referred to as the hatch) is correctly closed and its extended latch pin is engaged with the related release lever (Ref. AMM TASK 52-21-11-400-001).
(2) Install the lockpin assembly in the operating head of the inflation reservoir to prevent an accidental operation of the inflation reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-00-481-001).
(3) Remove the inflation reservoir assembly from the flexible control assembly as follows:

WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

CAUTION: DO NOT PUSH THE END OF THE WIRE INTO THE WIRE-CONTROL ASSEMBLY. THIS CAN CAUSE A KINK IN THE WIRE.

(a) Cut, remove and discard the lockwire from the knurled sleeve nut.
(b) Loosen the knurled sleeve nut and remove the two collets from the flexible control assembly.
(c) Disconnect the inflation cable from the release cable.
(4) Install the TLW101 TEST TOOL-RELEASE CABLE,ESCAPE SLIDE on the flexible control assembly as follows:

CAUTION: DO NOT PUT WEIGHT ON THE FWD PULLEY WHEN YOU CONNECT THE WIRE- CONTROL ASSEMBLY TO THE FLEXIBLE CONTROL-ASSEMBLY. WEIGHT ON THE PULLEY CAUSES TENSION IN THE WIRE, WHICH CAN CAUSE THE END OF THE WIRE TO BREAK.

(a) Remove the cover cap from the test tool.
(b) Engage the adapter with the release cable and put the collets in position around the joint.
(c) Turn the knurled sleeve nut to safety the connection of the test tool and the flexible control assembly.
(d) Make sure that the pointer of the test tool touches the stop of the housing.
(e) Measure the initial position of the pointer at the housing scale.

NOTE: The pointer does not stay accurately at zero because of the weight of the test tool.

4. Procedure
Subtask 52-21-00-720-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Functional Check of Manual and Automatic Slide Release Signal
(1) Do this test to examine:

The automatic operation of the slide release mechanism during the removal of the hatches
The manual operation of the slide release mechanism
The operation of the hatch locking mechanism from the inner and the outer side.

ACTION	RESULT
1.In the center of the cabin:	In the center of the cabin:
Pull down and remove the cover flap from the hatch.	The white indicator-light SLIDE ARMED comes on.
Pull the pull-lever of the hatch control handle down and hold the hatch in position.	The hooks of the locking mechanism disengage from the upper roller fittings. The linkage of the hatch control handle locks the pull lever in this lower position.
Carefully lower the top of the hatch into the cabin, until it comes free from the cabin lining.	The extended latch pin moves the release lever of the slide release mechanism to its end position. The flexible control assembly of the slide release mechanism transmits this movement (as the automatic slide release signal) to the inflation reservoir in the aft cargo compartment. The white indicator-light SLIDE ARMED goes off. In the aft cargo compartment: The end of the release cable retracts and operates the spring-loaded test tool.
Remove the hatch from the opening.	The latch pin disengages from the release lever.
2.In the aft cargo compartment:	In the aft cargo compartment:
Measure the travel of the release cable with the test tool.	The pointer of the test tool must stay in the green area of the scale The travel value must be a minimum of 50.0 mm (1.97 in.).
3.In the center of the cabin:	In the aft cargo compartment:
Remove the red pull handle of the slide release mechanism from its stowage position and pull it down (manual operation of the offwing escape slide).	The end of the release cable retracts and operates the spring-loaded test tool.
	In the center of the cabin:
Release the red pull handle and put it back in its stowage position.	The release lever moves automatically to its normal position.
4.On the hatch structure:	On the hatch structure:
Push the latch pin against the spring and turn its head a quarter turn counterclockwise.	The latch pin retracts to the DISARMED position.
5.In the center of the cabin:	In the center of the cabin:
Install the hatch correctly (Ref. AMM TASK 52-21-11-400-001).	The opening of the emergency exit is closed.
Push the latch pin against the spring and turn its head a quarter turn clockwise.	The latch pin extends in its ARMED position and operates the pin of the related proximity switch. The white indicator-light SLIDE ARMED comes on.
Install the cover flap on the hatch lining and push it against the hatch.	The white indicator-light SLIDE ARMED goes off.
Examine the position of the hatch seal.	The hatch seal is in its correct position.

(2) Do the lubrication procedure of the flexible control assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-00-640-001) if:

The pointer of the test tool does not stay in the green area of the scale
or
The travel value is not a minimum of 50.0 mm (1.97 in.).

5. Close-up
Subtask 52-21-00-860-056-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Put the aircraft back to the serviceable condition.

Operation of the Emergency Exit Hatch ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

(1) Remove the TLW101 TEST TOOL-RELEASE CABLE,ESCAPE SLIDE from the flexible control assembly as follows:

CAUTION: DO NOT PUSH THE END OF THE WIRE INTO THE WIRE-CONTROL ASSEMBLY. THIS CAN CAUSE A KINK IN THE WIRE.

(a) Loosen the knurled sleeve nut and disassemble the two collets from the flexible control assembly.
(b) Disengage the adapter from the release cable.
(2) Connect the flexible control assembly with the inflation reservoir assembly as follows:

(a) Engage the inflation cable with the release cable.
(b) Put the collets in position and tighten the knurled sleeve nut.

NOTE: When you install the collets, one of the slots must points to you. Through the slot, you can do a visual check that the wire stays connected, while you tighten the sleeve nut.

(3) Safety the sleeve nut:

(a) Safety the knurled sleeve nut with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
(4) Remove the lockpin assembly from the operating head of the inflation reservoir and put it into its bag (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-00-081-001).

Subtask 52-21-00-410-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

B. Close Access
(1) Install linings 151CW and 152CW in the aft cargo compartment.
(2) Remove the 98D52307515000 SAFETY LOCK-ACTUATOR,CARGO DOORS to close the aft cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
(3) Remove the access platform(s).

Subtask 52-21-00-410-051-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

B. Close Access
(1) Install linings 151SW and 152SW in the aft cargo compartment.
(2) Remove the 98D52307515000 SAFETY LOCK-ACTUATOR,CARGO DOORS to close the aft cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-002).
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
