A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) On the panel 25VU, make sure that the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch is off.
(2) Make sure that there is a warning notice in the cockpit to tell persons not to start the APU.
(3) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(4) Make sure that the access platform is positioned below the APU compartment.
(5) Make sure that the APU access doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
Subtask 49-32-11-865-059-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the panel 25VU, make sure that the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch is off.

A. Preparation for Installation
(1) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(2) Make sure that you removed the FCU shaft, if you found it broken.
(3) Make sure that you removed the debris from the gearbox, if you found a sheared spline.
(4) Lubricate the new AIPC 49-32-04-50-030 PACKING (18) or AIPC 49-32-84-20-030 PACKING (18) and the new AIPC 49-32-04-50-040 PACKING (19) or AIPC 49-32-84-20-040 PACKING (19) with Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine - - (Material No.03ABA1) or Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine Low Temp. - (Material No.03ABB1) .
(5) Install the packing (18) on the FCU splined drive-shaft.
(7) Remove all blanking caps and plugs from the FCU.
Subtask 49-32-11-420-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.

(4) Lubricate the new AIPC 49-32-04-50-030 PACKING (18) or AIPC 49-32-84-20-030 PACKING (18) and the new AIPC 49-32-04-50-040 PACKING (19) or AIPC 49-32-84-20-040 PACKING (19) with Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine - - (Material No.03ABA1) or Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine Low Temp. - (Material No.03ABB1) .
(5) Install the packing (18) on the FCU splined drive-shaft.
NOTE: Make sure that the packing (18) is installed correctly. Make sure that the packing is installed in the second recess, near the FCU housing.
(6) Install the packing (19) on the FCU mount boss groove. (7) Remove all blanking caps and plugs from the FCU.
B. Installation of the FCU.
(2) TORQUE the V-band clamp (20) to between 66 and 54 lbf.in (0.75 and 0.61 m.daN )
.
(3) Remove the blanking caps from the ends of the tubes (6), (13) and (15).
(4) Connect the tube (6) to the union (7).
(5) TORQUE the tube (6) to between 150 and 135 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.53 m.daN )
.
(6) Connect the tube (13).
(7) TORQUE the tube (13) to between 150 and 135 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.53 m.daN )
.
(8) Connect the two tubes (15).
(9) TORQUE the tubes (15) to between 200 and 180 lbf.in (2.26 and 2.03 m.daN )
.
(10) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
(11) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
(12) Connect the electrical connector (1) to the fuel control unit (12).
(13) Install the two harness clamps (9) with bolts (8), washers (10) and nuts (11).
(14) TORQUE the clamp nuts (11) to between 44 and 36 lbf.in (0.50 and 0.41 m.daN )
.
(15) Lubricate the new AIPC 28-22-04-11-260 PACKING (3) or AIPC 28-22-84-11-310 PACKING (3) with Turbine Fuel-- Wide-cut - (Material No.01ABC1) .
(16) Lubricate the male threads of union (5) with Dry lubricant-General Assembly - - (Material No.03QBA1) .
(17) Install the new packing (3) on union (5), install the union (5) in the fuel inlet of the FCU.
(18) TORQUE the union (5) to between 5.31 and 4.85 m.daN (39.16 and 35.77 lbf.ft )

(19) Install the new packing (3) on the union (5), install the pressure switch (4).
(20) Lubricate the male threads of union (2) with Dry lubricant-General Assembly - - (Material No.03QBA1) .
(21) Install the new packing (3) on union (2), Install the union (2) thru the pressure switch banjo (4).
(22) TORQUE the union (2) to between 5.31 and 4.85 m.daN (39.16 and 35.77 lbf.ft )

Subtask 49-32-11-870-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL Subtask 49-32-11-865-060-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL CAUTION:
YOU MUST USE TWO WRENCHES AND HOLD THE COMPONENT WHEN YOU REMOVE/INSTALL THE PIPE COUPLINGS AND/OR UNIONS. THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENT.
CAUTION:
DO NOT TORQUE THE V-CLAMP(S) TO MORE THAN THE SPECIFIED VALUE. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FLANGE SURFACES.
CAUTION:
-YOU MUST NOT INCREASE THE TIGHTENING TORQUE MORE THAN THE MAXIMUM VALUE.
(1) Position the FCU on the gearbox mount-pad location-dowel, support the FCU and install the V-Band clamp (20). - APPLY ALL TIGHTENING TORQUES WITH A TORQUE WRENCH OR A CALIBRATED SCREWDRIVER.
(2) TORQUE the V-band clamp (20) to between 66 and 54 lbf.in (0.75 and 0.61 m.daN )
. (3) Remove the blanking caps from the ends of the tubes (6), (13) and (15).
(4) Connect the tube (6) to the union (7).
(5) TORQUE the tube (6) to between 150 and 135 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.53 m.daN )
. (6) Connect the tube (13).
(7) TORQUE the tube (13) to between 150 and 135 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.53 m.daN )
. (8) Connect the two tubes (15).
(9) TORQUE the tubes (15) to between 200 and 180 lbf.in (2.26 and 2.03 m.daN )

(22) TORQUE the union (2) to between 5.31 and 4.85 m.daN (39.16 and 35.77 lbf.ft )
. D. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

E. Test
(1) Do the operational test of the APU (Ref. AMM TASK 49-00-00-710-008).
(a) Operate the APU for min. five minutes and examine the joints of the fuel control unit for leaks.

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the APU access doors 315AL 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-410-001).
(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(4) Remove the access platform(s).
