3. Job Set-up

A. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the aircraft is lifted on jacks at the forward jacking point (Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-581-003).
   (2) Make sure that access doors 812 and 822 are open.
   (3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE is in position in zone 123.
4. Procedure
Subtask 32-21-24-110-053-A
A. Preparation for Installation
   (1) Clean all the components with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) .
   (2) Dry the components with BLOWING EQUIPMENT - DRY AIR.

B. Installation of the Protective Cover of the Forestay Bearing
   (1) Apply a thin layer of Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.
03GBC1) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened - (Material No.03GBD1) on the new AIPC 32-21-01-01-075 O-RING (4) or AIPC 32-21-81-01-120 O-RING (4) and the new AIPC 32-21-01-01-060 O-RINGS (5) or AIPC 32-21-81-01-100 O-RINGS (5).
   (2) Install the O-rings (4) and (5) on the protective cover (6).
   (3) Apply a thin layer of Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area - - (Material No.
06LCG9) to the bolts (7).
   (4) If you cannot install one or more bolts (7) because of the load on the forestay, manually push the NLG wheels forward to release the load.
NOTE: During the removal of the protective cover, one bolt must always stay installed to prevent the movement of the bearing.
   (5) Install the protective cover (6), with the three bolts (7).
NOTE: The bolt (7) that was installed in the opposite direction is in position.
   (6) Through the nose gear compartment, remove the bolt (7) that was installed to prevent the movement of the bearing.
   (7) Install the remaining bolt (7) through the protective cover (6), and install the washers (3) and nuts (1).
   (8) Tighten the nuts (1).
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL A COTTER PIN. EACH TIME YOU REMOVE A COTTER PIN DURING THE TASK, DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. A LOOSE COTTER PIN CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND.
   (9) Safety the nuts (1) with the new AIPC 32-21-01-01-010 COTTER PINS (2) or AIPC 32-21-81-01-060 COTTER PINS (2).
   (10) Do a visual inspection of the swivel bearing from the inside of the nose gear compartment to:
  • Make sure that it is correctly installed against the airframe panel, with no space between them.
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
   (1) Lower the aircraft on ground (
Ref. AMM TASK 07-11-00-586-001).
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Close access doors 812 and 822.
   (4) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
