DETAILED INSPECTION OF NOSE LANDING GEAR, UPPER BARREL HINGE PINS, FORESTAY BARREL PIN, ACTUATING CYLINDER PINS, RETAINING NUT SHOCK ASSY, TORQUE LINK PINS, TORQUE LINK APEX PIN AND NUT, UPPER PANEL TO STRUCTURE PINS, UPPER PANEL TO UNIVERSAL JOINT PIN, LOCK LINK CENTRE PIN, LOWER LOCK LINK PIN, LOWER LOCK LINK TO UNIVERSAL JOINT PIN AND CROSS PIN - EXTERNAL SURFACES, EXCEPT WHERE COVERED BY DRESSINGS AND BUSH FLANGES.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 32-21-00-941-076-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) In the cockpit, on the right center instrument panel 400VU:
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing-gear normal control-lever.
   (2) On the steering handwheels (CAPT and F/O) and on the brake pedals:
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate them.
   (3) Put SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) On the right center instrument panel 400VU:
  • Make sure that the landing-gear normal control-lever is in the DOWN position.
   (2) On the rudder/trim parking-brake panel 110VU:
  • Make sure that the free-fall control handle is in the usual position.
   (3) Make sure that CHOCK - WHEEL(S) are in position on the main landing gear.

C. Get Access
   (1) Open the main doors of the NLG (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-010-001).
   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position.

A. Detailed Inspection of the External Surfaces of the Pins on the Nose Landing Gear
   (1) Do a detailed visual inspection of the upper barrel hinge pins and look for signs of:
  • Corrosion
  • Damage to the protective finish
  • Dents and scratches.
   (2) Do a detailed visual inspection of the forestay barrel pin and look for signs of:
  • Corrosion
  • Damage to the protective finish
  • Dents and scratches.
   (3) Do a detailed visual inspection of the actuating cylinder pins and look for signs of:
  • Corrosion
  • Damage to the protective finish
  • Dents and scratches.
   (4) Do a detailed visual inspection of the retaining-nut shock assy and look for signs of:
  • Corrosion
  • Damage to the protective finish
  • Dents and scratches.
   (5) Do a detailed visual inspection of the torque link pins and look for signs of:
  • Corrosion
  • Damage to the protective finish
  • Dents and scratches.
   (6) Do a detailed visual inspection of the torque link apex-pin and nut and look for signs of:
  • Corrosion
  • Damage to the protective finish
  • Dents and scratches.
   (7) Do a detailed visual inspection of the upper panel to structure pin and look for signs of:
  • Corrosion
  • Damage to the protective finish
  • Dents and scratches.
   (8) Do a detailed visual inspection of the upper panel to universal joint pin and look for signs of:
  • Corrosion
  • Damage to the protective finish
  • Dents and scratches.
   (9) Do a detailed visual inspection of the lock-link center pin and look for signs of:
  • Corrosion
  • Damage to the protective finish
  • Dents and scratches.
   (10) Do a detailed visual inspection of the lower lock link pin and look for signs of:
  • Corrosion
  • Damage to the protective finish
  • Dents and scratches.
   (11) Do a detailed visual inspection of the lower lock link to universal joint pin and cross pin and look for signs of:
  • Corrosion
  • Damage to the protective finish
  • Dents and scratches.
NOTE: If necessary, refer to the applicable CMM procedure for the correct repair.
5. Close-up
Subtask 32-21-00-410-068-A
A. Close Access
   (1) Remove the access platform(s).
   (2) Close the main door of the NLG (Ref. AMM TASK 32-22-00-410-001).
Subtask 32-21-00-860-078-A
B. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (2) Remove the safety barriers.
   (3) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
