Visual Inspection of the Hydraulic Hoses and Tubes


WARNING: DO NOT GET THE FLUID ON YOUR SKIN OR IN YOUR EYES. IF YOU DO:
  • FLUSH IT AWAY WITH CLEAN WATER
  • GET MEDICAL AID.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
CAUTION: DO NOT LET HYDRAULIC FLUID FALL ON THE ENGINE. ANY UNWANTED HYDRAULIC FLUID MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FLUID CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND SOME PARTS.
1. Reason for the Job
This task gives the procedure for a visual inspection of the hydraulic hoses and tubes without component removal.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 29-13-49-860-121-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Depressurize the Yellow hydraulic system
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002).
   (2) Depressurize the reservoir of the Yellow hydraulic system.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (3) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
  • On the ground service panel 198CB.
   (4) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) on the access door 195BB to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic reservoir.

B. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
  • Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
  • In the cockpit, on the HYD section of overhead panel 40VU.
   (4) On overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
  • Make sure that the ON legend of ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
   (5) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

C. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):
     (a) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)
447AL,448AR.
   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position at the engine.

D. Clean the hydraulic tubes
F Engine Hydraulic Tubes ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
WARNING: DO NOT GET THE FLUID ON YOUR SKIN OR IN YOUR EYES. IF YOU DO:
  • FLUSH IT AWAY WITH CLEAN WATER
  • GET MEDICAL AID.
   (1) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with cleaning fluid (Material No.V01-002) to clean the tubes.
   (2) Dry the tubes with a clean lint free cloth.
4. Procedure
Subtask 29-13-49-210-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Examine the hydraulic tubes with the LIGHT SOURCE - INSPECTION and the MIRROR - INSPECTION
F Engine Hydraulic Tubes ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Examine the hydraulic tubes and make sure that they are correctly attached.
     (a) If the tubes are loose, examine these items for damage, wear and loss of torque:
       1 The attachment bolts.
       2 The attachment clips.
       3 The wire that safeties the connections.
       4 The tube connection nuts and the unions.
       5 The attachment brackets.
     (b) If one (some) of the items has (have) damage or wear, reject it (them).
   (2) Examine the connections of the hydraulic tubes for leaks. No leaks are permitted
     (a) If you find leaks :
       1 Examine the attachment bolts and the tube connection nuts for loss of torque.
       2 If there is a loss of torque examine the bolts and the tube connection nuts for damage and wear.
       3 If you find damage or wear, reject it (them).
       4 Examine the general condition of the hydraulic tubes
     (b) Examine the tubes for cracks, dents and damage
       1 If the tube(s) has (have) cracks, reject it (them).
       2 If the tube(s) has (have) dents or damage, reject it (them).
5. Close-up
Subtask 29-13-49-410-056-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tool(s) and other items.
   (4) Close the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-010):
     (a) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)
