Removal of the Hydraulic Case Drain Tubes
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
WARNING:
DO NOT GET HYDRAULIC FLUID ON YOUR SKIN, IN YOUR EYES OR IN YOUR MOUTH. HYDRAULIC FLUID IS POISONOUS AND CAN GO THROUGH YOUR SKIN AND INTO YOUR BODY. FLUSH HYDRAULIC FLUID FROM YOUR EYES, MOUTH OR SKIN WITH WATER. GET MEDICAL AID IF YOU GET HYDRAULIC FLUID IN YOUR EYES OR MOUTH.
CAUTION:
DO NOT LET HYDRAULIC FLUID FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED HYDRAULIC FLUID MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FLUID CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.

Subtask 29-13-49-860-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002)
(2) Depressurize the Yellow hydraulic reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
(3) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
Subtask 29-13-49-941-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002)
(2) Depressurize the Yellow hydraulic reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
(3) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
- on the ground service panel 198CB.
B. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(3) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
(6) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below the hydraulic case drain tube connection to collect the remaining fluid.
Subtask 29-13-49-010-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
- put WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(3) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
- in the cockpit, on the HYD section of the overhead panel 40VU.
- make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(6) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below the hydraulic case drain tube connection to collect the remaining fluid.
C. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):
(a) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)
open the door 447AL 448AR.
(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position at the engine.
4. Procedure(1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):
(a) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)
open the door 447AL 448AR.
(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position at the engine.
Subtask 29-13-49-110-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Drain the hydraulic fluid from the case drain tubes
(1) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below the hydraulic pump.
(2) Cut and discard the lockwire from the connection of the hose (8).
(3) Hold the union (55) with an applicable wrench and disconnect the hose (8) from the union.
(4) Let the hydraulic fluid drain in the container.
Subtask 29-13-49-020-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below the hydraulic pump.
(2) Cut and discard the lockwire from the connection of the hose (8).
(3) Hold the union (55) with an applicable wrench and disconnect the hose (8) from the union.
(4) Let the hydraulic fluid drain in the container.
B. Remove the hydraulic case-drain tubes
(1) Write the position of these parts before removal:
(a) The clamps (14), (17), (37) and (39) and the clip (53).
(b) The bolts (13), (16), (36), (40) and (54).
(c) The hoses (3) and (8) and the tube (5).
(a) Remove the bolts (13) and (16) from the clamps (14) and (17).
(b) Hold the union (31) with an applicable wrench and disconnect the hose (3).
(c) Remove the hose (3) from the clamps (14) and (17).
(d) Hold the hose (3) and disconnect it from the aircraft pylon interface.
(e) Remove the hose (3) from the engine.
(3) Remove the tube (5)
(a) Hold the union (31) with an applicable wrench and loosen the end connector of the tube (5) and the nut (30).
(b) Hold the union (51) with an applicable wrench and loosen the end connector of the tube (5).
(c) Remove the three bolts (40) and the top of the clamp (39) from the engine.
(d) Safety the bottom of the clamp (39) to the raft (38) with temporary ties.
(e) Remove the three bolts (36) and the top of the clamp (37) from the engine.
(f) Safety the bottom of the clamp (37) to the raft (34) with temporary ties.
(g) Disconnect the end connectors of the tube (5) from the unions (31) and (51) and remove the tube from the engine.
(4) Remove the lower hose (8)
(a) Hold the union (52) with an applicable wrench and disconnect the end connector of the hose (8).
(b) Hold the hose (8). Remove the bolt (54) which attaches the clip (53) to the bracket.
(c) Remove the hose (8) from the engine.
(5) Put the applicable COVER - BLANKING on all the openings.
Subtask 29-13-49-010-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Write the position of these parts before removal:
(a) The clamps (14), (17), (37) and (39) and the clip (53).
(b) The bolts (13), (16), (36), (40) and (54).
(c) The hoses (3) and (8) and the tube (5).
NOTE: You must write the position of these parts. This makes sure that they are installed in the correct position during the installation task.
(2) Remove the upper hose (3) (a) Remove the bolts (13) and (16) from the clamps (14) and (17).
(b) Hold the union (31) with an applicable wrench and disconnect the hose (3).
(c) Remove the hose (3) from the clamps (14) and (17).
(d) Hold the hose (3) and disconnect it from the aircraft pylon interface.
(e) Remove the hose (3) from the engine.
(3) Remove the tube (5)
(a) Hold the union (31) with an applicable wrench and loosen the end connector of the tube (5) and the nut (30).
(b) Hold the union (51) with an applicable wrench and loosen the end connector of the tube (5).
(c) Remove the three bolts (40) and the top of the clamp (39) from the engine.
(d) Safety the bottom of the clamp (39) to the raft (38) with temporary ties.
(e) Remove the three bolts (36) and the top of the clamp (37) from the engine.
(f) Safety the bottom of the clamp (37) to the raft (34) with temporary ties.
(g) Disconnect the end connectors of the tube (5) from the unions (31) and (51) and remove the tube from the engine.
(4) Remove the lower hose (8)
(a) Hold the union (52) with an applicable wrench and disconnect the end connector of the hose (8).
(b) Hold the hose (8). Remove the bolt (54) which attaches the clip (53) to the bracket.
(c) Remove the hose (8) from the engine.
(5) Put the applicable COVER - BLANKING on all the openings.
C. Transferable Parts Removal
(1) Remove the clip (53) from the hose (8).
