Removal of the Hydraulic Pressure Tubes


WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
WARNING: DO NOT GET HYDRAULIC FLUID ON YOUR SKIN, IN YOUR EYES OR IN YOUR MOUTH. HYDRAULIC FLUID IS POISONOUS AND CAN GO THROUGH YOUR SKIN AND INTO YOUR BODY. FLUSH HYDRAULIC FLUID FROM YOUR EYES, MOUTH OR SKIN WITH WATER. GET MEDICAL AID IF YOU GET HYDRAULIC FLUID IN YOUR EYES OR MOUTH.
CAUTION: DO NOT LET HYDRAULIC FLUID FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED HYDRAULIC FLUID MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FLUID CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 29-13-49-860-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the Yellow hydraulic system is depressurized and put it in the maintenance configuration.
(Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002)
   (2) Depressurize the Yellow hydraulic reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).
   (3) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
  • on the ground service panel 198CB.
   (4) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) on the access door 195BB to tell persons not to pressurize the yellow hydraulic reservoir.
Subtask 29-13-49-941-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
  • put WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the Yellow hydraulic system:
  • in the cockpit, on the HYD section of the overhead panel 40VU.
   (4) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
  • make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
   (5) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
   (6) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below the connection between the pressure hose and the fluid disconnect panel (4) to collect the remaining fluid.
Subtask 29-13-49-010-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):
     (a) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)
open the door 447AL 448AR.
   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position at the engine.
4. Procedure
Subtask 29-13-49-611-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Drain the hydraulic fluid from the pressure tubes

PRE SBN 29-0265
   (1) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) in position below the hydraulic pump.
   (2) Cut and discard the lockwire from the connection of the hose (7).
   (3) Hold the union (57) with an applicable wrench and disconnect the hose (7) from the union.
   (4) Let the hydraulic fluid drain into the container.

POST SBN 29-0265
   (5) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) in position below the hydraulic pump.
   (6) Cut and discard the lockwire from the connection of the hose (7).
   (7) Hold the dampener (58) with an applicable wrench and disconnect the hose (7) from the union.
   (8) Let the hydraulic fluid drain into the container.

Subtask 29-13-49-020-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Remove the hydraulic pressure tubes
PRE SBN 29-0001
   (1) Write the position of these parts before removal:
     (a) The clamps (14), (17), (37) and (39).
     (b) The bolts (13), (16), (36) and (40).
     (c) The hoses (4), (6) and (7) and the tube (11).
NOTE: You must write the position of these parts. This makes sure that they are installed in the correct position during the installation task.
   (2) Remove the upper hose (4)
     (a) Remove the bolts (13) and (16) from the clamps (14) and (17).
     (b) Hold the union (32) with an applicable wrench and disconnect the hose (4).
     (c) Remove the hose (4) from the clamps (14) and (17).
     (d) Disconnect the quick-release coupling at the aircraft pylon interface and remove the hose (4).
   (3) Remove the hose (6)
     (a) Hold the union (35) with an applicable wrench and disconnect the hose (6).
     (b) Disconnect the hose (6) from the tube (11).
     (c) Remove the hose (6) from the engine.
   (4) Remove the lower hose (7)
     (a) Hold the tube (11) with an applicable wrench and loosen the hose (7).
     (b) Disconnect the hose from the tube (11).
     (c) Remove the hose (7) from the engine.
   (5) Remove the tube (11)
     (a) Attach temporary ties to safety the tube (11).
     (b) Hold the union (32) with an applicable wrench and disconnect the tube (11).
     (c) Remove the three bolts (40) and the top of the clamp (39) from the engine.
     (d) Safety the bottom of the clamp (39) to the raft (38) with temporary ties.
     (e) Remove the three bolts (36) and the top of the clamp (37) from the engine.
     (f) Safety the bottom of the clamp (37) to the raft (34) with temporary ties.
     (g) Hold the tube (11). Remove the temporary safety ties and remove the tube from the engine.
Subtask 29-13-49-020-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Remove the hydraulic pressure tubes
SBN 29-0001 : Hydraulic hose changed and raft extension added at the LP switch.
   (1) Write the position of these parts before removal:
     (a) The clamps (14), (17), (37) and (39).
     (b) The bolts (13), (16), (36) and (40).
     (c) The hoses (4), (19) and (7) and the tube (11).
NOTE: You must write the position of these parts. This makes sure that they are installed in the correct position during the installation TASK.
   (2) Remove the upper hose (4)
     (a) Remove the bolts (13) and (16) from the clamps (14) and (17).
     (b) Hold the union (32) with an applicable wrench and disconnect the hose (4).
     (c) Remove the hose (4) from the clamps (14) and (17).
     (d) Disconnect the quick-release coupling at the aircraft pylon interface and remove the hose (4).
   (3) Remove the hose (19)
     (a) Hold the union (42) with an applicable wrench and disconnect the hose (19).
     (b) Disconnect the hose (19) from the tube (11).
     (c) Remove the hose (19) from the engine.
   (4) Remove the lower hose (7)
     (a) Hold the tube (11) with an applicable wrench and loosen the hose (7).
     (b) Disconnect the hose from the tube (11).
     (c) Remove the hose (7) from the engine.
   (5) Remove the tube (11)
     (a) Attach temporary ties to safety the tube (11).
     (b) Hold the union (32) with an applicable wrench and disconnect the tube (11).
     (c) Remove the three bolts (40) and the top of the clamp (39) from the engine.
     (d) Safety the bottom of the clamp (39) to the raft (38) with temporary ties.
     (e) Remove the three bolts (36) and the top of the clamp (37) from the engine.
     (f) Safety the bottom of the clamp (37) to the raft (41) with temporary ties.
     (g) Hold the tube (11). Remove the temporary safety ties and remove the tube from the engine.
Subtask 29-13-49-010-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
D. Transferable Parts Removal
   (1) Hold the quick-release coupling with an applicable wrench and loosen the hose (4).
   (2) Remove the quick-release coupling from the hose (4).
   (3) Put the applicable COVER - BLANKING on all the openings.
