Removal of the Engine 1 Pump Suction Quick-Disconnect Coupling Half


WARNING: OBEY THE HYDRAULIC SAFETY PROCEDURES.
WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM COMPONENTS FOR A SHORT TIME AFTER THE ENGINE IS SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE COMPONENTS STAY HOT FOR SOME TIME AND CAN CAUSE INJURY.
CAUTION: DO NOT LET HYDRAULIC FLUID FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED HYDRAULIC FLUID MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FLUID CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 29-11-39-860-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are depressurized and put them in the maintenance configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001).
   (2) Depressurize the related hydraulic reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 29-14-00-614-001).

B. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M (3 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position at the engine.
   (2) Open the left fan-cowl door 437AL (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040).

C. Safety Precautions
   (1) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to pressurize the hydraulic system:
  • In the cockpit, on the HYD section of panel 40VU
  • On the ground service panel of the Green hydraulic system, access door 197CB
  • On access door 195BB of the Green hydraulic reservoir.
   (2) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start the engine 1(2).
   (3) Make sure that the related engine has been stopped for at least 5 minutes.
   (4) On maintenance panel 50VU:
  • Make sure that the ON legend of the related ENG FADEC GND PWR pushbutton switch is off.
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to supply power to the FADEC system.
   (5) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
  • Make sure that the related ENG MASTER 1(2) switch is in the OFF position.
   (6) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) below the suction-hose coupling to the hydraulic pump.
4. Procedure
Subtask 29-11-39-020-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Engine 1 Quick-Disconnect Coupling Half
   (1) Disconnect the coupling half (5) from the fluid disconnnect panel. Let the hydraulic fluid drain into the container.
   (2) Disconnect the suction hose from the coupling half (5).
NOTE: Use a second wrench to hold the coupling half when you loosen the suction hose.
   (3) Install COVER - PROTECTION on the suction hose, the coupling half (5) and the disconnect panel.
