3. Job Set-up
Subtask 28-22-14-860-050-A
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) When you do maintenance work on the fuel system you must obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
   (2) On the APU section of the overhead panel 25VU, make sure that the APU MASTER SW is in the off/released position (the ON legend is off).
   (3) On the FUEL overhead panel 40VU, make sure that the L TK PUMPS and the R TK PUMPS pushbutton switches are released (the OFF legends are on).
   (4) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position:
  • on the overhead panel 25VU, to tell persons not to push the APU MASTER SW,
  • on the FUEL overhead panel 40VU, to tell persons not to operate the fuel system,
  • on the FIRE panel 25VU, to tell persons not to operate the APU fire extinguishing system.
   (5) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE is in position below the APU compartment.
   (6) Make sure that the APU access doors 315AL 316AR are open (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
   (7) Make sure that there is a CONTAINER 1 L (1/4 USGAL) under the FCU to collect unwanted fuel.

4. Procedure
Subtask 28-22-14-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the APU Fuel LP-Switch 5030QM
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (1) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Make sure that there is no damage on the union (3) and if necessary, replace the union (3):
     (a) Remove the union (3) and discard the O-rings (12).
     (b) Lubricate the new AIPC 28-22-04-11-246 O-RINGS (12) with a thin layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Hot application Soft Film Turbine Engine (Material No.12AFC3) and put them in position on the union (3).
     (c) Put the union (3) in position in the Fuel Control Unit (FCU), and turn it as necessary to align the slot of the union-bracket with the mounting stud (11).
     (d) Install the nut (10).
     (e) TORQUE the nut (10) to between 0.495 and 0.405 m.daN (43.81 and 35.84 lbf.in ) T.
     (f) Safety the union (3) to the FCU with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (4) Remove the blanking plugs from the disconnected line ends.
   (5) Lubricate the new
AIPC 28-22-04-11-260 O-RINGS (6) with a thin layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Hot application Soft Film Turbine Engine (Material No.12AFC3) . Put them in position in the banjo head of the APU fuel LP-switch (1).
   (6) Install the APU fuel LP-switch (1) as follows:
CAUTION: YOU MUST USE TWO WRENCHES AND HOLD THE COMPONENT WHEN YOU REMOVE/INSTALL THE PIPE COUPLINGS AND/OR UNIONS. THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENT.
     (a) Put the APU fuel LP-switch (1) in position on the union (3) and install the union assembly (5).
     (b) TORQUE the union assembly (5) to between 5.31 and 4.85 m.daN (39.16 and 35.77 lbf.ft ) T.
     (c) Safety the union (3) and the union assembly (5) together with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (7) Apply a layer of Dry lubricant-General Assembly - - (Material No.
03QBA1) to the connector external threads of the APU vent and the drain valve (8).
   (8) Attach the APU vent and the drain valve (8) to the union assembly (5).
   (9) TORQUE the nut (4) to between 5.31 and 4.85 m.daN (39.16 and 35.77 lbf.ft ) T.
   (10) Safety the nut (4), the two other nuts of the APU vent and the drain valve (8) together with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (11) Make sure that the angle between the APU fuel LP-switch (1) and the APU vent and the drain valve (8) is 43 degrees.
   (12) Remove the blanking cap from the electrical connector.
   (13) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
   (14) Connect the electrical connector (2) to the APU fuel LP-switch (1).
   (15) Remove the container.

A. Installation of the APU Fuel LP-Switch 5030QM
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (1) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (2) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Make sure that there is no damage on the union (3) and if necessary, replace the union (3):
     (a) Remove the union (3) and discard the O-ring (6).
     (b) Lubricate the new
AIPC 28-22-04-11-260 O-RINGS (6) with a thin layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Hot application Soft Film Turbine Engine (Material No.12AFC3) and put them in position on the union (3).
     (c) Install the union (3).
     (d) TORQUE the union (3) to between 5.31 and 4.85 m.daN (39.16 and 35.77 lbf.ft ) T.
     (e) Safety the union (3) with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (4) Remove the blanking plugs from the disconnected line ends.
   (5) Install the APU fuel LP-switch (1) as follows:
CAUTION: YOU MUST USE TWO WRENCHES AND HOLD THE COMPONENT WHEN YOU REMOVE/INSTALL THE PIPE COUPLINGS AND/OR UNIONS. THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENT.
     (a) Lubricate the new
AIPC 28-22-04-11-260 O-RINGS (6) with a thin layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Hot application Soft Film Turbine Engine (Material No.12AFC3) . Put them in position in the banjo head of the APU fuel LP-switch (1).
     (b) Put the APU fuel LP-switch (1) in position on the union (3), and install the union assembly (5).
     (c) TORQUE the union assembly (5) to between 5.31 and 4.85 m.daN (39.16 and 35.77 lbf.ft ) T.
     (d) Safety the union (3) and the union assembly (5) together with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (6) Apply a layer of Dry lubricant-General Assembly - - (Material No.
03QBA1) to the connector external threads of the APU vent and the drain valve (8).
   (7) Attach the APU vent and the drain valve (8) to the union assembly (5).
   (8) TORQUE the nut (4) to between 5.31 and 4.85 m.daN (39.16 and 35.77 lbf.ft ) T.
   (9) Safety the nut (4), the two other nuts of the APU vent and the drain valve (8) together with 14QFB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.8 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
   (10) Make sure that the angle between the APU fuel LP-switch (1) and the APU vent and the drain valve (8) is 43 degrees.
   (11) Remove the blanking cap from the electrical connector.
   (12) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
   (13) Connect the electrical connector (2) to the APU fuel LP-switch (1).
   (14) Remove the container.

C. Test
   (1) Do the operational test of the APU fuel-pump system on ground to purge the fuel line (
Ref. AMM TASK 28-22-00-710-001).
   (2) Do the operational test of the APU fuel low pressure circuit
   (3) Examine the connections for leaks.
NOTE: Leaks are not permitted.
5. Close-up
Subtask 28-22-14-410-050-B
A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the APU access doors 315AL 316AR (Ref. AMM TASK 52-41-00-410-001).
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
