Removal of the Torque Shaft

CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE TASKS ON THE WING TRAILING EDGE:
  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
  • MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

   (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (2) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the flap/slat controls.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (1) Extend the flaps fully (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-008).
   (2) Install the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION on the flap/slat control lever.

D. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) in the applicable position.
   (2) Remove the applicable access panel (Ref. AMM TASK 57-51-37-000-002):
     (a) FOR [6210CM] (FLAP XMSN TORQUE SHAFT)
remove 573AB
     (b) FOR [6260CM] (FLAP XMSN TORQUE SHAFT)
remove 673AB.
4. Procedure
Subtask 27-54-45-020-054-A
A. Removal of the Torque Shaft
NOTE: The torque shaft (2) can be installed with the universal joint (7) orientated to the line gear box or to the flap track 2 actuator.
NOTE: These procedures are almost the same. The removal of the torque shaft (2) installed with the universal joint (7) orientated to the line gear box is given.
   (1) Install a 98D27504030001 LOCK-TORQUE SHAFT (FLAPS AND SLATS) WITH CLAMP-PIVOT on a flap torque shaft, outboard of the component that you remove (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-400-003).
   (2) Remove and discard the nuts (3) and (9).
   (3) Remove the bolts (4) and (8) and the torque shaft (2).
   (4) Remove the universal joint (1).
   (5) Remove the retaining ring (5), the pin (6) and the universal joint (7).
