Subtask 26-24-00-861-050-A
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).

B. Get Access
(2) If necessary, open the door/access panel of the stowage compartment.
(3) Record the position of each fire extinguisher.
(4) Release/open the strap/clamp and remove each fire extinguisher from its support bracket.
4. ProcedureNOTE: The fire extinguisher locations are shown with placards. The placards are bonded on the outer side of the stowage compartments, or adjacent to them.
(1) For the location of the portable fire extinguishers refer to (Ref. AMM D/O 26-24-00-00). (2) If necessary, open the door/access panel of the stowage compartment.
(3) Record the position of each fire extinguisher.
(4) Release/open the strap/clamp and remove each fire extinguisher from its support bracket.

A. Inspection Procedure
(1) Visual Check:
(a) Make sure that:
(b) Install a serviceable portable fire extinguisher.
(3) Replace the fire extinguisher to a serviceable one if:

(a) Make sure that:
- The support bracket is correctly attached and serviceable
- The safety device (e.g. seal wire, safety pin, safety lever) is serviceable
- The spray nozzle is not blocked
- If a FULL indicator is installed, it is in position and the seal is not broken
- If a gage is installed, the indicator is in the green area
- There are no signs of damage or corrosion on the bottle
- The plastic trigger/head of the bottle is not cracked
- The labels on the bottle are in correct condition and you can read the bottle operating instructions easily
- Scratches on the painted surface of the fire extinguisher cylinder are acceptable and the fire extinguisher is serviceable
- Very light scores on the painted surface of the aluminium cylinder are acceptable and the fire extinguisher is serviceable.
NOTE: This procedure is applicable only when the fire extinguisher without the pressure gauge is installed.
(a) Remove the portable fire extinguisher for a weight check.(b) Install a serviceable portable fire extinguisher.
(3) Replace the fire extinguisher to a serviceable one if:
- It is not in the correct condition
- Its weight is not in the limits
- Its maximum permitted life is not longer than the time to the next scheduled inspection.

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Install the fire extinguisher:
(b) If installed, make sure that the transit pin is removed from the fire extinguisher.
(3) If necessary, close the door/access panel of the stowage compartment.

(2) Install the fire extinguisher:
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE PORTABLE FIRE EXTINGUISHER IS ALWAYS EASY TO REMOVE. IN AN EMERGENCY, ADJACENT EQUIPMENT MUST NOT PREVENT ITS EASY REMOVAL. IF IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO REMOVE THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER QUICKLY, INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(a) Install a serviceable fire extinguisher in its support bracket, and attach/close the strap/clamp. (b) If installed, make sure that the transit pin is removed from the fire extinguisher.
(3) If necessary, close the door/access panel of the stowage compartment.
B. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
(1) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
(2) De-energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-862-001).
