3. Job Set-up

A. Energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).

B. Get Access
(1) For the location of the megaphone, refer to Para. Component Location (Ref. AMM D/O 25-65-00-00).
(2) Open the door/access panel of the stowage compartment.
(3) Release/open the strap/clamp.
(4) Remove the megaphone from the stowage compartment.

4. Procedure

WARNING: DO NOT OPERATE THE MEGAPHONE NEAR A PERSON'S EARS. AMPLIFIED SOUND OR HOWLING CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE INNER EAR.

A. Operational Test

NOTE: You can find the applicable P/N through the IPC for the related FIN.

(1) For P/N A12SA

ACTION	RESULT
1.On the megaphone:	On the megaphone:
Hold the handle (1) of the megaphone and put the microphone near to your mouth.
Push the switch-button (5) and speak into the microphone.	You hear a click sound. The volume of your voice increases. Make sure that your voice is clear (no feedback). NOTE: If you operate the megaphone in a small space, you can hear a light ringing. Sound reverberation causes this.
Release the switch-button (5).	The increased volume of your voice stops.

(2) For P/N ACREM1A

ACTION	RESULT
On the megaphone:	On the megaphone:
Hold the handle (17).
Remove the alarm-plug pin (20) from the megaphone (13).	The siren starts automatically.
Press the handle (17).	You hear a click sound. The siren stops.
Continue to press the handle (17). Install the alarm-plug pin (20) in the megaphone (13). NOTE: This stops the automatic operation of the siren, if the handle is accidentally released.
Put the microphone (16) near to your mouth and speak.	The volume of your voice increases. Make sure that your voice is clear (no feedback).
If necessary, adjust the volume control (19) until the feedback is gone.
Release the handle (17).	You hear a click sound. The increased volume of your voice stops.

(3) For P/N ACREM2BA

ACTION	RESULT
On the megaphone:	On the megaphone:
Press the handle (17).
Put the microphone (16) near to your mouth and speak.	The volume of your voice increases. Make sure that your voice is clear (no feedback).
If necessary, adjust the volume control (19) until the feedback is gone.
Release the handle (17).	You hear a click sound. The increased volume of your voice stops.

(4) For P/N MV10

ACTION	RESULT
On the megaphone:	On the megaphone:
Put the microphone (24) near to your mouth.
Push the trigger-switch (26) and speak into the microphone (24).	The volume of your voice increases. Make sure that your voice is clear (no feedback).
If necessary, adjust the volume control (25) until the feedback is gone.
Release the trigger-switch (26).	The increased volume of your voice stops.

(5) For P/N S243

ACTION	RESULT
On the megaphone:	On the megaphone:
Put the microphone (29) near to your mouth.
Push the red push-button (30) and speak into the microphone (29).	The volume of your voice increases. Make sure that your voice is clear (no feedback).
If necessary, adjust the volume-control (28) until the feedback is gone.
Release the red push-button (30).	The increased volume of your voice stops.

(6) For P/N HM012S

ACTION	RESULT
On the megaphone:	On the megaphone:
Set the toggle switch (12) to the MIC position. Put the microphone (6) near to your mouth.
Push the trigger-switch (10) and speak into the microphone (6).	The volume of your voice increases. Make sure that your voice is clear (no feedback).
If necessary, adjust the volume control (11) until the feedback is gone.
Release the trigger switch (10).	The increased volume of your voice stops.
Set the toggle switch (12) to the SIREN position.
Push the trigger-switch (10).	The siren operates.
Release the trigger-switch (10).	The siren stops.
Set the toggle switch (12) back to its initial position.

5. Close-up

A. Close Access
(1) Install the megaphone in the stowage compartment.
(2) Attach/close the strap/clamp.
(3) Close the door/access panel of the stowage compartment.
(4) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.

B. De-energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-862-001).
