3. Job Set-up

A. Energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-861-001).

B. Get Access
(1) If necessary, remove the component from the aircraft (refer to the related chapter of the Aircraft Maintenance Manual).

4. Procedure
Subtask 25-20-00-340-050-A

A. Removal of Air Bubbles under the Decor Foil
(1) Examine the decor foil and use a MARKER - CHALK, STICK to put circular marks around the bubbles (repair area).
(2) Use a NEEDLE to make a hole in the bubbles and remove the air.
(3) Wait some minutes until the decor foil has its initial shape.
(4) Use a SYRINGE to put the bonding and adhesive compounds:

Cyanoacrylate Adhesive-Non Structural One Part - Low viscosity - (Material No.05GBH1)
or
Contact Adhesive-Rubber & Plastic Bonding Nitrile base - (Material No.05JBB9)
or
Contact Adhesive-Decorative foil Neoprene base - (Material No.05JDC9)

into the repair area of the decor foil. Start at the center of the repair area.
(5) If necessary, apply more injections around the circumference of the repair area.
(6) Let the adhesive cure for approximately 20 seconds.
(7) Carefully apply pressure to the decor foil with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) . Start at the center of the repair area.
(8) Let the air and the unwanted adhesive flow out of the hole(s).
(9) Immediately remove the unwanted adhesive with a SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
(10) If necessary, remove the unwanted cured adhesive:
(a) Put a tape Adhesive Tape-- Uncoated Cloth - (Material No.05TAD1) on the repair area.
(b) Make the tape moist with a WATER - SOAPY SOLUTION.
(c) Remove the tape after 4-6 hours.
(d) Remove the remaining adhesive with a moist Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(11) Make the surface smooth with a ROLLER - RUBBER. Start at the center of the repair area.
(12) Clean the component with Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and a Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol - (Material No.08BBD1) .

Subtask 25-20-00-340-051-A

B. Replacement of Decor Foil Attached with Heat Activated Adhesive

NOTE: This procedure is only applicable for the replacement of decor foil with the same product code.

(1) Make sure that the ambient temperature is between 20 deg.C (68.00 deg.F) and 30 deg.C (86.00 deg.F) at a relative humidity of 35-75%.
(2) Remove the damaged decor foil:

WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO THIS PROCEDURE. THE AIRFLOW CAN BE HOT AND HOT AIR CAN CAUSE BURNS.

(a) Put on GLOVES - INSULATED to do the procedure.
(b) Increase the temperature at the edge of the decor foil with a hot air blower to a maximum of of 100 deg.C (212.00 deg.F). You can use HOT AIR BLOWER MAX OPERATING 370 DEG C (700 DEG F) or similar equipment.
Apply the hot air until you can lift the edge of the decor foil.
(c) Slowly pull the decor foil from the component in approximately 150 mm (5.9055 in.) wide strips while you apply the hot air with a maximum temperature of 100 deg.C (212.00 deg.F).
(d) Remove the unwanted adhesive with a CLOTH-EMERY (GRADE 320 - 400).
(e) Clean the repair area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol - (Material No.08BBD1) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(3) Install the new decor foil:
(a) Use the decor foil Adhesive Deco. Film-Decorative Foil Without Adhesive Furnishing (Material No.05VKC6) or Adhesive Deco. Film-Decorative Foil Heat Activated Adhesive Furnishing (Material No.05VKD6) .
(b) If you install the new decor foil with Contact Adhesive-Rubber & Plastic Bonding Nitrile base - (Material No.05JBB9) or Cyanoacrylate Adhesive-Non Structural One Part - Low viscosity - (Material No.05GBH1) :
1 Put on GLOVES - COTTON, LINT-FREE, CLEAN to do the procedure.
2 Mix 2 parts of

Contact Adhesive-Rubber & Plastic Bonding Nitrile base - (Material No.05JBB9)
or
Cyanoacrylate Adhesive-Non Structural One Part - Low viscosity - (Material No.05GBH1)

and 1 part of Non Aqueous Cleaner_- Methyl-Ethyl-Ketone - (Material No.08BBF1) .
3 Apply the adhesive to the repair area with a BRUSH - NON METALLIC.
4 If you use the decor foil Adhesive Deco. Film-Decorative Foil Without Adhesive Furnishing (Material No.05VKC6) , also apply the adhesive to the decor foil with a BRUSH - NON METALLIC.
5 Let the adhesive dry for a minimum of 12 hours at room temperature, or for 45 minutes at 70 DEG.C (158.00 DEG.F).
6 Cut the decor foil to the correct dimensions.
7 If you use the decor foil Adhesive Deco. Film-Decorative Foil Heat Activated Adhesive Furnishing (Material No.05VKD6) , remove the protective layer from the decor foil.
8 Put the decor foil in position on the repair area.
9 Bond the decor foil to the repair area with a VACUUM EQUIPMENT 0 TO 0.4 BAR (6 PSI) at a temperature of 90 DEG.C (194.00 DEG.F) and a pressure of 0.4 bar (5.8015 psi) for 5 minutes. For shapes you can use a ROLLER - RUBBER to apply pressure.

NOTE: If you apply the decor foil to small areas, you can use an ELECTRIC IRON. A temperature of 90 DEG.C (194.00 DEG.F) and moderate hand pressure are sufficient.

10 Let the temperature decrease to approximately 40 DEG.C (104.00 DEG.F).
11 Remove the vacuum equipment.
(c) If you install the new decor foil with BOSTIK 7132K:

NOTE: When the decorative foil is completely replaced Adhesive-Decorative foil - Furnishing (Material No.05LGA6) can be applied with a GUN - SPRAY.

1 Put on GLOVES - COTTON, LINT-FREE, CLEAN to do the procedure.
2 Apply Adhesive-Decorative foil - Furnishing (Material No.05LGA6) to the area of repair with a BRUSH - NON METALLIC.
3 If you use the decor foil Adhesive Deco. Film-Decorative Foil Without Adhesive Furnishing (Material No.05VKC6) , also apply the adhesive to the decor foil with a BRUSH - NON METALLIC.

NOTE: The maximum potlife of the mixed adhesive is 2 hours.

4 Let the adhesive dry for 15 minutes at room temperature.
5 Cut the decor foil to the correct dimensions.
6 If you use the decor foil Adhesive Deco. Film-Decorative Foil Heat Activated Adhesive Furnishing (Material No.05VKD6) , remove the protective layer from the decor foil.
7 Put the decor foil in position on the repair area.
8 Bond the decor foil to the repair area with a VACUUM EQUIPMENT 0 TO 0.4 BAR (6 PSI) at a temperature of 90 DEG.C (194.00 DEG.F) and a pressure of 0.4 bar (5.8015 psi) for 5 minutes. For shapes you can use a ROLLER - RUBBER to apply pressure.

NOTE: If you apply the decor foil to small areas, you can use an ELECTRIC IRON. A temperature of 90 DEG.C (194.00 DEG.F) and moderate hand pressure are sufficient.

9 Remove the vacuum equipment.

C. Replacement of Decor Foil Attached with Pressure Sensitive Adhesive

NOTE: This procedure is only applicable for the replacement of decor foil with the same product code.

(1) Make sure that the ambient temperature is between 20 deg.C (68.00 deg.F) and 30 deg.C (86.00 deg.F) at a relative humidity of 35-75%.
(2) Remove the damaged decor foil:

WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO THIS PROCEDURE. THE AIRFLOW CAN BE HOT AND HOT AIR CAN CAUSE BURNS.

(a) Put on GLOVES - INSULATED to do the procedure.
(b) Increase the temperature at the edge of the decor foil with a HOT AIR BLOWER MAX OPERATING 370 DEG C (700 DEG F) to a maximum of 100 deg.C (212.00 deg.F). Apply the hot air until you can lift the edge of the decor foil.
(c) Slowly pull the decor foil from the component in approximately 150 mm (5.9055 in.) wide strips while you apply the hot air with a maximum temperature of 100 deg.C (212.00 deg.F).
(d) Remove the unwanted adhesive with an CLOTH-EMERY (GRADE 320 - 400).
(e) Clean the repair area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol - (Material No.08BBD1) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(3) Install the new decor foil:
(a) Put on GLOVES - COTTON, LINT-FREE, CLEAN to do the procedure.
(b) Apply

Contact Adhesive-Rubber & Plastic Bonding Nitrile base - (Material No.05JBB9)
or
Contact Adhesive-Decorative foil Neoprene base - (Material No.05JDC9)
to the repair area with a BRUSH - NON METALLIC.

(c) Cut the decor foil Adhesive Deco. Film-Decorative Foil Pressure Sensitive Adhesive Furnishing (Material No.05VKE6) to the correct dimensions.
(d) Remove the protective layer from the decor foil and put the decor foil in position on the repair area.
(e) Push the decor foil on the repair area with a ROLLER - RUBBER. Start at the center of the repair area and move the roller to the edges to prevent wrinkles or air bubbles.

5. Close-up

A. Close Access
(1) If removed, install the component in the aircraft (refer to the related chapter of the Aircraft Maintenance Manual).

Subtask 25-20-00-860-051-A

B. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
(1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(3) De-energize the ground service network
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-42-00-862-001).
