Removal of the Generator Power Feeder Cables

BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

Subtask 24-21-61-941-055-A
A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the ENG/MODE selector switch and the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
(2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 24-21-61-010-059-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

(b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 2)

(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position on the left side of the engine.
4. Procedure(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

(b) FOR [4020KM2] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 2)

(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position on the left side of the engine.
Subtask 24-21-61-020-053-A
A. Removal of the Generator Power Feeder Cables
(1) Disconnect the power feeder cables (8) from the pylon as follows:
(a) Remove the two outer bolts (43) that attach the bar clamp (42) to the mounting plate (41).
(b) Remove the three bolts (38) that attach the terminal block cover (44) to the pylon terminal block (40).
(c) Remove the terminal block cover (44) from the pylon terminal block (40).
(d) Remove the four nuts (39) that attach the power feeder cables (8) to the pylon terminal block (40).
(e) Lift the four power feeder cables (8) together with the bar clamp (42) off of the studs on the pylon terminal block (40). The base of the bar clamp (42) will stay attached to the mounting plate (41) by the middle bolt.
(f) Carefully pull the four power feeder cables (8) out of the top half of the bar clamp (42).
(2) Complete the work on the right side of the engine as follows:
(a) Remove the two bolts (32) that attach the highest bar clamp (37) to the support bracket (33).
(b) Make sure the four power feeder cables (8) are free and can be pulled through the opening at the top of the engine.
(3) Disconnect the power feeder cables (8) from the IDG (4) as follows (Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804):
(a) Remove the two bolts (5) that attach the bar clamp (6) to the support bracket (7).
(b) Remove the two bolts (9) and the IDG terminal cover (1) from the IDG terminal block (3).
(c) Remove the four nuts (2) that attach the power feeder cables (8) to the IDG terminal block (3).
(d) Lift the four power feeder cables (8) off of the studs on the IDG terminal block (3).
(e) Remove the four power feeder cables (8) from the bar clamp (6).
(4) Disconnect the power feeder cables (8) from the engine as follows:
(a) Remove the bolts (12), (15), (19), (21), (25), (27), and (31) that attach the seven p-clamps (11), (16), (20), (22), (26), (28), and (30) to the support brackets (13), (14), (17), (18), (23), (24), and (29).
(b) Remove the two bolts (36) that attach the bar clamp (35) to the support bracket (34).
(c) Carefully pull the upper ends of the power feeder cables (8) to the left side of the engine.
(5) Remove the set of power feeder cables (8) (with the p-clamps and bar clamps attached) from the engine.
(6) Make a record of the position of the p-clamps and bar clamps on the power cables to help during installation.
(7) Remove the p-clamps and bar clamps from the power feeder cables (8).
(8) If necessary, install the IDG terminal cover (1), the two bolts (9) and the two washers (45) on the IDG terminal block (3).
(9) If necessary, install the pylon terminal cover (44) and the three bolts (38) on the pylon terminal block (40).
(1) Disconnect the power feeder cables (8) from the pylon as follows:
(a) Remove the two outer bolts (43) that attach the bar clamp (42) to the mounting plate (41).
(b) Remove the three bolts (38) that attach the terminal block cover (44) to the pylon terminal block (40).
(c) Remove the terminal block cover (44) from the pylon terminal block (40).
(d) Remove the four nuts (39) that attach the power feeder cables (8) to the pylon terminal block (40).
(e) Lift the four power feeder cables (8) together with the bar clamp (42) off of the studs on the pylon terminal block (40). The base of the bar clamp (42) will stay attached to the mounting plate (41) by the middle bolt.
(f) Carefully pull the four power feeder cables (8) out of the top half of the bar clamp (42).
(2) Complete the work on the right side of the engine as follows:
(a) Remove the two bolts (32) that attach the highest bar clamp (37) to the support bracket (33).
(b) Make sure the four power feeder cables (8) are free and can be pulled through the opening at the top of the engine.
(3) Disconnect the power feeder cables (8) from the IDG (4) as follows (Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804):
(a) Remove the two bolts (5) that attach the bar clamp (6) to the support bracket (7).
(b) Remove the two bolts (9) and the IDG terminal cover (1) from the IDG terminal block (3).
(c) Remove the four nuts (2) that attach the power feeder cables (8) to the IDG terminal block (3).
(d) Lift the four power feeder cables (8) off of the studs on the IDG terminal block (3).
(e) Remove the four power feeder cables (8) from the bar clamp (6).
(4) Disconnect the power feeder cables (8) from the engine as follows:
(a) Remove the bolts (12), (15), (19), (21), (25), (27), and (31) that attach the seven p-clamps (11), (16), (20), (22), (26), (28), and (30) to the support brackets (13), (14), (17), (18), (23), (24), and (29).
(b) Remove the two bolts (36) that attach the bar clamp (35) to the support bracket (34).
(c) Carefully pull the upper ends of the power feeder cables (8) to the left side of the engine.
(5) Remove the set of power feeder cables (8) (with the p-clamps and bar clamps attached) from the engine.
(6) Make a record of the position of the p-clamps and bar clamps on the power cables to help during installation.
(7) Remove the p-clamps and bar clamps from the power feeder cables (8).
(8) If necessary, install the IDG terminal cover (1), the two bolts (9) and the two washers (45) on the IDG terminal block (3).
(9) If necessary, install the pylon terminal cover (44) and the three bolts (38) on the pylon terminal block (40).
