C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Ground Maintenance

WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.

(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

D. Get Access
(1) Open the left thrust-reverser cowl-door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.
(3) Installation of the engine protection covers

CAUTION: INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS ON ALL THE OPENINGS IMMEDIATELY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.

(a) Install all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine.

4. Procedure

A. Do the draining of the oil from the IDG (Ref. AMM TASK 12-13-24-680-802).

B. Removal of the IDG Fuel/Oil Heat-Exchanger

CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.

(1) Find the AC generator fuel/oil heat-exchanger (1) on the diffuser case at approximately the nine o'clock position.
(2) Put a CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) below the IDG fuel/oil heat-exchanger (1).
(3) Remove the fuel/oil heat-exchanger (1) from the manifold (LU30):
(a) Remove the six bolts (4) and six washers (3).
(b) Use the lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.P05-005) to clean any excess oil.
(c) Remove the seal (2).

NOTE: The seal (2) may be reused later (Ref. AMM TASK 24-21-42-400-802).
