A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 12-13-80-010-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:

Subtask 12-13-80-680-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Drain the Starter
(1) Remove the filler plug (10). Discard the O-ring (20).
(2) Remove the knurled magnetic plug (50) as follows:
(a) Push and turn counter-clockwise to release the plug (50).
(3) Put a CONTAINER 3 L(3/4 USGAL) below the starter.
(4) Insert the drain adapter 2G7899 STARTER DRAIN ADAPTER by pushing inward and turn clockwise to engage. Wait until the oil drain completely into the container
(5) Measure the quantity of the drained oil:
(a) If the oil quantity is more than 0.5 l (0.1321 USgal), the starter is serviceable.
(b) If the quantity is less than 0.5 l (0.1321 USgal), replace the starter (Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-10-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-10-400-001) .
(6) Carefully examine the oil removed from the starter and the magnetic plug (50) for metal particles (Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-10-210-001). Then, remove and discard the two O-rings (60).
(8) Clean the knurled magnetic plug (50). Apply a thin layer engine oil (Material No.CP2442) on the two new AIPC 80-11-10-01-100 O-RING (60) and install the two O-rings on the knurled magnetic plug.
(9) Install the knurled magnetic plug (50):
(a) Push inward and turn clockwise to engage locking device.
Subtask 12-13-80-680-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the filler plug (10). Discard the O-ring (20).
(2) Remove the knurled magnetic plug (50) as follows:
(a) Push and turn counter-clockwise to release the plug (50).
(3) Put a CONTAINER 3 L(3/4 USGAL) below the starter.
(4) Insert the drain adapter 2G7899 STARTER DRAIN ADAPTER by pushing inward and turn clockwise to engage. Wait until the oil drain completely into the container
(5) Measure the quantity of the drained oil:
(a) If the oil quantity is more than 0.5 l (0.1321 USgal), the starter is serviceable.
(b) If the quantity is less than 0.5 l (0.1321 USgal), replace the starter (Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-10-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-10-400-001) .
(6) Carefully examine the oil removed from the starter and the magnetic plug (50) for metal particles (Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-10-210-001). Then, remove and discard the two O-rings (60).
NOTE: Fine metal particles show normal wear. Large pieces of metal show internal damage.
(7) Remove the drain adapter 2G7899 STARTER DRAIN ADAPTER by pushing it inward and turn counter-clockwise (8) Clean the knurled magnetic plug (50). Apply a thin layer engine oil (Material No.CP2442) on the two new AIPC 80-11-10-01-100 O-RING (60) and install the two O-rings on the knurled magnetic plug.
(9) Install the knurled magnetic plug (50):
(a) Push inward and turn clockwise to engage locking device.
B. Drain the Starter (Alternative Procedure)
(1) Remove the filler plug (10). Discard the O-ring (20).
(2) Remove the knurled magnetic plug (50) as follows:
(a) Push and turn counter-clockwise to release the plug (50).
(3) Put a CONTAINER 3 L(3/4 USGAL) below the starter. Cut and remove the lockwire. Remove the drain plug (70) and let the oil drain in the container. Discard the O-ring (80).
(4) Measure the quantity of the drained oil:
(a) If the oil quantity is more than 0.5 l (0.1321 USgal), the starter is serviceable.
(b) If the quantity is less than 0.5 l (0.1321 USgal), replace the starter (Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-10-000-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-10-400-001).
(5) Carefully examine the oil removed from the starter and the magnetic plug (50) for metal particles (Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-10-210-001).Then, remove and discard the O-ring (60).
(7) Install the drain plug (70). TORQUE the plug to between 85 and 65 lbf.in (0.96 and 0.73 m.daN )
(8) Safety the drain plug (70) to the starter housing withCP8001 lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or CP8002 lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia .
(9) Clean the knurled magnetic plug (50). Apply a thin layer of engine oil (Material No.CP2442) to the new AIPC 80-11-10-01-090 O-RING (60) and install the two O-rings on the knurled magnetic plug.
(10) Install the magnetic plug (50):
(b) Push inward and turn clockwise to engage locking device.
(c) TORQUE magnetic plug (50) to between 24 and 8 lbf.in (0.27 and 0.09 m.daN )
(d) Safety the magnetic plug (50) to the drain plug (70) and to the starter housing withCP8001 lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or CP8002 lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia .
Subtask 12-13-80-680-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the filler plug (10). Discard the O-ring (20).
(2) Remove the knurled magnetic plug (50) as follows:
(a) Push and turn counter-clockwise to release the plug (50).

(8) Safety the drain plug (70) to the starter housing with
(9) Clean the knurled magnetic plug (50). Apply a thin layer of engine oil (Material No.CP2442) to the new AIPC 80-11-10-01-090 O-RING (60) and install the two O-rings on the knurled magnetic plug.
(10) Install the magnetic plug (50):
CAUTION:
USE TWO STANDARD WRENCHES TO REMOVE/INSTALL THE MAGNETIC PLUG. ONE TO HOLD THE OIL DRAIN PLUG ADAPTER THE OTHER TO LOOSEN/TIGHTEN THE MAGNETIC PLUG. OTHERWISE ACCIDENTAL OIL DRAINING OF THE STARTER COULD OCCUR.
(a) Install the knurled magnetic plug (50) on the drain plug (70). (b) Push inward and turn clockwise to engage locking device.
(c) TORQUE magnetic plug (50) to between 24 and 8 lbf.in (0.27 and 0.09 m.daN )

(d) Safety the magnetic plug (50) to the drain plug (70) and to the starter housing with
B. Drain the Starter (Alternative Procedure)
(1) Remove the filler plug (10). Discard the O-ring (20).
(2) Remove the knurled magnetic plug (50) as follows:
(a) Push and turn counter-clockwise to release the plug (50).
(3) Put a CONTAINER 3 L(3/4 USGAL) below the starter. Cut and remove the lockwire. Remove the drain plug (70) and let the oil drain in the container. Discard the O-ring (80).
(4) Check the thread of the starter drain port
(5) Measure the quantity of the drained oil:
(a) If the oil quantity is more than 0.5 l (0.1321 USgal), the starter is serviceable.
(b) If the quantity is less than 0.5 l (0.1321 USgal), replace the starter (Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-10-000-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-10-400-001).
(6) Carefully examine the oil removed from the starter and the magnetic plug (50) for metal particles (Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-10-210-001). Then, remove and discard the O-ring (60).
(8) Install the drain plug (70):

(b) Safety the drain plug (70) to the starter housing withCP8001 lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or CP8002 lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia .
(c) Clean the knurled magnetic plug (50). Apply a thin layer of engine oil (Material No.CP2442) to the new AIPC 80-11-10-01-090 O-RING (60) and install the two O-rings on the knurled magnetic plug.
(d) Install the knurled magnetic plug (50):
1 Push inward and turn clockwise to engage locking device.
Subtask 12-13-80-612-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the filler plug (10). Discard the O-ring (20).
(2) Remove the knurled magnetic plug (50) as follows:
(a) Push and turn counter-clockwise to release the plug (50).
(3) Put a CONTAINER 3 L(3/4 USGAL) below the starter. Cut and remove the lockwire. Remove the drain plug (70) and let the oil drain in the container. Discard the O-ring (80).
(4) Check the thread of the starter drain port
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THREAD OF THE STARTER DRAIN PORT IS IN GOOD CONDITION. A BAD CONDITION OF THE THREAD CAN CAUSE AN IMPORTANT OIL LEAKAGE.
(a) Do a check of the good condition of the thread of the starter drain port. (5) Measure the quantity of the drained oil:
(a) If the oil quantity is more than 0.5 l (0.1321 USgal), the starter is serviceable.
(b) If the quantity is less than 0.5 l (0.1321 USgal), replace the starter (Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-10-000-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-10-400-001).
(6) Carefully examine the oil removed from the starter and the magnetic plug (50) for metal particles (Ref. AMM TASK 80-11-10-210-001). Then, remove and discard the O-ring (60).

(7) Clean the drain plug (70). Apply a thin layer of engine oil (Material No.CP2442) to a new AIPC 80-11-10-01-110 O-RING (80) and install the O-ring on the drain plug. (8) Install the drain plug (70):
CAUTION:
YOU MUST TORQUE THE DRAIN PLUG WITH THE APPLICABLE TOOL (PRESET TORQUE WRENCH). TOO MUCH TORQUE OR INSUFFICIENT TORQUE CAN CAUSE AN IMPORTANT OIL LEAKAGE.
(a) Install the drain plug (70). TORQUE the plug to between 85 and 65 lbf.in (0.96 and 0.73 m.daN ) 
(b) Safety the drain plug (70) to the starter housing with
(c) Clean the knurled magnetic plug (50). Apply a thin layer of engine oil (Material No.CP2442) to the new AIPC 80-11-10-01-090 O-RING (60) and install the two O-rings on the knurled magnetic plug.
(d) Install the knurled magnetic plug (50):
1 Push inward and turn clockwise to engage locking device.
C. Fill the starter
(1) Remove overflow plug (40), push inward and simultaneously turn counter-clockwise to disengage locking device. Discard O-ring (30).
(2) With starter installed, fill starter housing through filler port until the engine oil (Material No.CP2442) flows from the over flow port.
(4) Install the filler plug (10) and overflow plug (40) push inward and simultaneously turn clockwise to engage locking device.
5. Close-up(1) Remove overflow plug (40), push inward and simultaneously turn counter-clockwise to disengage locking device. Discard O-ring (30).
(2) With starter installed, fill starter housing through filler port until the engine oil (Material No.CP2442) flows from the over flow port.
NOTE: The quantity of oil used will be less than 0.8 l (0.21 USgal)
(3) Clean the filler plug (10) and overflow plug (40). Apply a thin layer of engine oil (Material No.CP2442) on the new AIPC 80-11-10-01-130 O-RING (20) and new AIPC 80-11-10-01-130 O-RING (30) , and install the O-rings on the filler plug and the overflow plug. (4) Install the filler plug (10) and overflow plug (40) push inward and simultaneously turn clockwise to engage locking device.
