A. Check for Presence of Fuel in Oil
(2) Opening of the oil tank filler cap (3):
(b) Open the oil tank filler cap (3).
(3) Do a check for the presence of fuel in oil as follows:
(a) If there is fuel in the oil, use one of the following available on-site test kits to examine the oil:
(c) If the test passes and no fuel is found, close the oil tank filler cap (3). Refer to paragraph 4.A.(4).
(4) Closing of the oil tank filler cap (3) in the oil tank (1):
1 Examine the filler cap packing (5) on the oil tank filler cap (3).
2 If you find signs of wear on the packing (5), remove and discard the packing (5).
3 Lubricate a new EIPC 79-11-05-15-060 PACKING (5) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
4 Install the new packing (5) on the oil tank filler cap (3).
(b) Close the oil tank filler cap (3) with the oil tank filler cap handle (4) in vertical (unlocked) position.
(c) Turn the oil tank filler cap handle (4) clockwise against its stop to engage the locking device.
(e) Checking the oil tank filler cap:
5. Close-upWARNING:
USE PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT. USE THE ENGINE OIL IN A WELL-VENTILATED AREA. ENGINE OIL IS TOXIC.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE OIL CAP ASSEMBLY IS CLEAN TO PREVENT CONTAMINATION OF THE TANK DURING THE SERVICING OPERATIONS.
CAUTION:
DO NOT TRY TO PULL THE HANDLE OF THE FILLER CAP OUT OF ITS STOP LIMITS.
(1) Clean the oil cap assembly (2) with lint-free cloth before you open the oil tank filler cap (3). (2) Opening of the oil tank filler cap (3):
WARNING:
DO NOT REMOVE THE FILLER CAP OF THE OIL TANK IMMEDIATELY AFTER ENGINE OPERATION. LET THE OIL PRESSURE DECREASE FOR A MINIMUM OF 5 MINUTES AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. IF YOU OPEN THE FILLER CAP WHEN THERE IS PRESSURE IN THE TANK, THE OIL CAN BURN YOU DANGEROUSLY.
CAUTION:
BE CAREFUL TO REMOVE THE OIL TANK FILLER-CAP, DO NOT APPLY MORE FORCE THAN IS NECESSARY TO ITS HANDLE. TOO MUCH FORCE CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO OCCUR TO ITS LOCKING DEVICE.
(a) Turn the oil tank filler cap handle (4) counterclockwise to the vertical (unlocked) position against its stop to disengage the locking device to open the oil tank filler cap (3). (b) Open the oil tank filler cap (3).
(3) Do a check for the presence of fuel in oil as follows:
(a) If there is fuel in the oil, use one of the following available on-site test kits to examine the oil:
- VISCOMETER (measuring the viscosity of the oil)
- DETECTOR-COMBUSTIBLE GAS (Checks the presence of combustible vapor).
(c) If the test passes and no fuel is found, close the oil tank filler cap (3). Refer to paragraph 4.A.(4).
(4) Closing of the oil tank filler cap (3) in the oil tank (1):
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE HANDLE IS NOT IN THE HORIZONTAL (LOCKED) POSITION. IF THE HANDLE IS IN THE HORIZONTAL (LOCKED) POSITION, THERE IS A RISK OF INJURY TO YOUR FINGERS.
WARNING:
WHEN THE HANDLE OF THE FILLER CAP IS IN THE LOCKED POSITION, MAKE SURE THAT IT CANNOT ACCIDENTALLY MOVE TO ITS VERTICAL (UNLOCKED) POSITION. IF IT DOES, THERE IS A RISK THAT PRESSURIZED HOT OIL WILL FLOW OUT OF THE TANK AND CAUSE INJURY (DANGEROUS BURNS).
CAUTION:
DO NOT USE FORCE TO MOVE THE HANDLE OF THE FILLER CAP. DAMAGE CAN OCCUR TO ITS LOCKING DEVICE.
(a) Make sure that the filler cap packing (5) is in the correct position.
NOTE: If the locking device is correctly engaged, the oil tank filler cap (3) cannot be pulled from the oil tank (1).
(d) Push the oil tank filler cap handle (4) down to the horizontal (locked) position. (e) Checking the oil tank filler cap:
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE LOCKING PIN IS FULLY ENGAGED IN THE SCUPPER. THE LOCKING PIN HANDLE MUST BE PARALLEL TO THE SCUPPER. IF IT IS NOT PARALLEL, DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE FILLER CAP IS CORRECTLY CLOSED. IF IT IS NOT CORRECTLY CLOSED, A BAD SUPPLY PRESSURE OF THE OIL LUBRICATION UNIT DURING ENGINE OPERATION CAN OCCUR.
1 Make sure that the oil tank filler cap (3) is tightly closed and locked. Subtask 12-13-79-410-077-A
