4. Procedure
Subtask 12-13-27-612-050-A
A. Oil Replenishment of the Trimmable Horizontal Stabilizer (THS) Actuator Gearbox
   (1) Remove the cap (4) from the oil fill plug (3).
   (2) Make sure that the inner strainer in the oil fill plug (3) is in the correct condition.
CAUTION: ONLY USE AN OIL FILLING TOOL THAT HAS A TRANSPARENT HOSE AND A FUNNEL. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DETERIORATION OF THE STRAINER IN THE OIL FILL PLUG CAN OCCUR.
   (3) Install the 0U190363 TOOL-OIL FILLING,THS ACTUATOR on the oil fill plug (3).
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (4) If you drained the THS actuator gearbox, cut and discard the lockwire from the plug (1).
   (5) Remove the plug (1) and the O-ring (2). Discard the O-ring (2).
   (6) Do the check of the oil level of the THS actuator gearbox approximately one hour after the last movement of the THS actuator.
NOTE: This time is necessary for the level of the oil to become stable.
   (7) Monitor the oil level indicator (5) and fill the THS actuator gearbox with the Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine Low Temp. - (Material No.03ABB1) , until the oil level is correct:
     (a) If the ambient air temperature is less than 10 deg.C (50 deg.F), we recommend that you fill the THS actuator gearbox to a level of 1.5 mm (0.0591 in.) below the maximum mark.
     (b) If the ambient air temperature is between 10 deg.C (50 deg.F) and 30 deg.C (86 deg.F), we recommend that you fill the THS actuator gearbox to the maximum mark.
     (c) If the ambient air temperature is more than 30 deg.C (86 deg.F), we recommend that you fill the THS actuator gearbox to a level of 1.5 mm (0.0591 in.) above the maximum mark.
     (d) If there is too much oil in the THS actuator gearbox, drain the oil until the oil level is correct in relation to the ambient air temperature (Ref. AMM TASK 27-44-51-610-001).
   (8) Remove the 0U190363 TOOL-OIL FILLING,THS ACTUATOR.
   (9) Clean the cap (4) with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (10) Install the cap (4).
   (11) If you removed the plug (1), do the steps that follow:
     (a) Make sure that the plug (1) and the plug interface are clean.
     (b) Apply the Synthetic base Lubricating Oil-Turbine Engine Low Temp. - (Material No.03ABB1) on the new AIPC 27-44-51-02-100 O-RING (2).
     (c) Install the new O-ring (2) on the plug (1) with the
0U145506 CONE-MOUNTING, THS ACTUATOR.
     (d) Install the plug (1) on the THS actuator.
     (e) TORQUE the plug (1) to between 1.6 and 1.4 m.daN (11.80 and 10.32 lbf.ft ) T.
     (f) Safety the plug (1) with the 14QEB1Wire-Locking Dia: 0.6 mm CRES Nickel Alloy -.
