3. Job Set-up
Subtask 11-24-71-941-065-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start engine 1(2).
     (b) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
   (2) On overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

B. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Deactivate the thrust reverser system (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-040).

C. Get Access
   (1) Put on and attach the HARNESS, SAFETY before you start work in the work area.
   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position at the work area.
   (3) Get access to the area from where you must remove the markings.
4. Procedure
Subtask 11-24-71-000-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Nacelle External Markings
   (1) Clean the area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol Reagent grade (Material No.08BBD2) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and quickly remove the Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol Reagent grade (Material No.08BBD2) with the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) before it becomes dry.
   (2) Apply Adhesive Film Tape-Masking - - (Material No.05RDA1) around the marking area.
   (3) Remove the markings with Abrasive-- Grain APU (Material No.14FAD5) , abrasive paper, grain 180, abrasive paper, grain 220 or abrasive paper, grain 320.
   (4) If necessary, remove the remaining markings with the SPATULA - PLASTIC.
   (5) Do not remove the paint below the markings.
   (6) Remove the Adhesive Film Tape-Masking - - (Material No.05RDA1) .
   (7) If you cannot remove the markings easily:
     (a) Apply Adhesive Transfer Tape-- High Temperature - (Material No.05NAD2) around the edge of the markings.
     (b) Apply 09EBA1Methylene Chloride / Phenolic Stripper-General Use Process - - on the surface of the markings with the BRUSH - ACID.
     (c) If necessary, apply more 09EBA1Methylene Chloride / Phenolic Stripper-General Use Process - - on the surface of the markings to remove them.
     (d) Remove the 09EBA1Methylene Chloride / Phenolic Stripper-General Use Process - - from the surface of the markings with the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with demineralized water.
     (e) Dry the area with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
     (f) Remove the Adhesive Transfer Tape-- High Temperature - (Material No.05NAD2) .
   (8) Clean the area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol Reagent grade (Material No.08BBD2) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and quickly remove the Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Isopropyl Alcohol Reagent grade (Material No.08BBD2) with the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) before it becomes dry.
