General Visual Inspection of LH/RH Main Landing Gear including Cylinder and Secondary Doors (EWIS)

1. Reason for the Job
Refer to the MPD TASK: ZL-731-01
GENERAL VISUAL INSPECTION OF LH/RH MAIN LANDING GEAR INCLUDING CYLINDER AND SECONDARY DOORS (EWIS).
NOTE: This task can contribute to fuel savings.
NOTE: This is an EWIS (Electrical Wiring Interconnection System) procedure. EWIS is defined in ESPM 20-33-11.

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (2) Make sure that the ground safety locks are on the landing gear (Ref. AMM TASK 32-00-00-481-001).

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) In the cockpit, on panel 400VU:
  • Make sure that the landing-gear control-lever 6GA is in the DOWN position
  • Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing gear.
   (2) In the cockpit, on panel 110VU, make sure that the GRAVITY GEAR EXTN handle is folded into the center console.

C. Get Access
   (1) Open the MLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
   (2) Make sure that the 460005835 SLEEVE - GROUND LOCK is on the applicable MLG door actuator.
   (3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the applicable zone.
4. Procedure
Subtask 05-27-30-210-050-A
A. Inspection
   (1) Do a general visual inspection of the main landing gears and the main landing gear cylinder and secondary doors (zones 731, 732, 733, 741, 742 and 743).
   (2) Do an inspection of the MLG 1M and 2M leg harnesses (Ref. AMM TASK 32-11-00-210-802).
   (3) Make sure that there are no signs of corrosion, cracks or damage on all the parts of the components and the structure that you can see.
   (4) Make sure that all the installations (wiring, ducting and piping) are correctly attached.

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Close the MLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-410-001).
   (4) Remove the SAFETY BARRIERS.
   (5) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (6) Remove all the fixtures, tools, test and support equipment used during this procedure.
