A. Test (for EEC software FCS 4.0 only (Pre PW SB C-73-00-0017A))
(1) Find and record the current airport altitude and ambient air temperature. Determine the correct engine speed for Fault Confirmation as shown in the table below
Table 201: Engine Speed Based on Airport Temperature and Altitude
(2) Do as follow:
(a) Increment the Flight Number on MCDU
1 On MCDU screen, push the INIT mode key
2 Enter a Flight Number with the key board (for example: TEST01)
a The data entered comes into view on the bottom line of the screen.
3 Push the key 3L
a The FLT NBR comes into view
(b) Depending on Engine Speed determined in Table 201, do step 1_ or 2_
1 Do an engine run to 60 percent N1 AMM 71-00-00-720-816.
2 Do an engine run to 80 percent N1 AMM 71-00-00-720-816.
(c) Look at the Post Flight Report to confirm this fault.
4. Fault Isolation(1) Find and record the current airport altitude and ambient air temperature. Determine the correct engine speed for Fault Confirmation as shown in the table below
Table 201: Engine Speed Based on Airport Temperature and Altitude
| Temperature | Altitude | Engine Speed |
|---|---|---|
| Less than 20 deg.C (68 deg.F) | Less than 8000 ft. (2438.4 m) | 60% N1 |
| Less than 20 deg.C (68 deg.F) | More than 8000 ft. (2438.4 m) | 80% N1 |
| More or equal than 20 deg.C (68 deg.F) | Less than 8000 ft. (2438.4 m) | 60% N1 |
| More or equal than 20 deg.C (68 deg.F) | More than 8000 ft. (2438.4 m) | 80% N1 |

2 Do an engine run to 80 percent N1 AMM 71-00-00-720-816.
(c) Look at the Post Flight Report to confirm this fault.
NOTE: The Electronic Engine Control (EEC) has reported that the buffer air valve pressure sensor circuit for channel A and B has detected that the buffer air valve has failed in the closed position. The buffer air valve is on the high pressure compressor, located at the 2 o'clock position.
- Refer to the general troubleshooting guidelines for additional troubleshooting information (Ref. TSM TASK 71-00-00-810-834).
- Refer to the component and harness intermittent troubleshooting procedure for guidance troubleshooting intermittent faults (Ref. TSM TASK 71-00-00-810-835).
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE AFTER SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE CAN STAY HOT FOR A LONG TIME. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS WARNING, INJURY CAN OCCUR.
WARNING:
REFER TO THE MSDS FOR ALL MATERIAL USED AND THE MANUFACTURER'S SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR ALL EQUIPMENT USED. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS WARNING, INJURY CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE YOU REMOVE ELECTRICAL POWER FROM THE EEC BEFORE YOU REMOVE THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE EEC CAN OCCUR.
