A. Do the FADEC system ignition system test to confirm a problem with the ignition system A AMM 74-00-00-710-802. Run the test for ignition system A in both channel A and channel B.
(a) If the fuel flow was OK, do the procedure for no light-correct fuel flow (Ref. TSM TASK 71-00-00-810-851).
(b) If the fuel flow was not OK, do the procedure for no light no or low fuel flow (Ref. TSM TASK 71-00-00-810-850).
(2) If an audible indication of spark was not heard during the FADEC system ignition test, continue with the steps in the troubleshooting procedure.
4. Fault IsolationNOTE: The Electronic Engine Control (EEC) in channel A and channel B has detected that the engine has failed to light using ignition system A. The ignition system alternates at the beginning of each engine auto start in the following sequence: Start 1- Ignition System A, Channel A, Start 2 - Ignition System A, Channel B, Start 3 - Ignition System B, Channel A, Start 4 - Ignition System B Channel B. The ignition exciter is located on the right side of the fan case at approximately 5 o'clock position.
(1) If a dual EEC channel maintenance message for ignition system A failure comes on with a dual EEC channel maintenance message for ignition system B failure, check to make sure that the fuel flow is OK. - Refer to the general troubleshooting guidelines for additional troubleshooting information (Ref. TSM TASK 71-00-00-810-834).
- Refer to the component and harness intermittent troubleshooting procedure for guidance troubleshooting intermittent fault (Ref. TSM TASK 71-00-00-810-835).
WARNING:
IGNITION SYSTEM VOLTAGE IS DANGEROUSLY HIGH. THE IGNITION SWITCH MUST BE IN THE "OFF" POSITION BEFORE REMOVING OR INSTALLING ANY IGNITION COMPONENTS. AFTER DISCONNECTING CABLE FROM IGNITER PLUG, DISCHARGE CURRENT BY GROUNDING IGNITION CABLE TERMINAL TO ENSURE COMPLETE DISSIPATION OF ENERGY FROM THE SYSTEM. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THIS PROCEDURE COULD RESULT IN SEVERE INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE AFTER SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE CAN STAY HOT FOR A LONG TIME. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS WARNING, INJURY CAN OCCUR.
WARNING:
REFER TO THE MSDS FOR ALL MATERIAL USED AND THE MANUFACTURER'S SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR ALL EQUIPMENT USED. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS WARNING, INJURY CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE YOU REMOVE ELECTRICAL POWER FROM THE EEC BEFORE YOU REMOVE THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE EEC CAN OCCUR.
