A. Following trouble shooting procedure should be carried out if crew reported audible engine stall while no ECAM warning ENG 1(2) STALL was set. This procedure covers engine stall conditions that occurred at N2 speed at or above idle. For engine stall during start, refer to (Ref. TSM TASK 80-00-00-810-833).
NOTE: Specific trouble shooting is required whether the stall occurred during an accel or decel, the engine fully recovered or not after the stall(s) with no noticeable parameter shift.
   (1) If the engine stall during taxi or during descent (on throttle reduction) or during an accel with recovery of engine parameters to normal:
     (a) Do a check of the engine for Foreign Object Damage (FOD) or bird strike AMM 72-00-00-200-001.
     (b) Check the Post Flight Report of the leg corresponding to the stall occurance and FADEC Scheduled Maintenance Report AMM 73-21-60-740-007 for failure messages including the following words: VSV , T12 , T25 , PS3 , HMU (FMV) VBV , RACSB from the day the stall occured.
     (c) If one of those messages is present:
     (d) If none of those messages is present:
  • Do a visual check of the VSV cinematic system (actuators linkage, bolting, bellcranks, etc)
     (e) If nothing is found:
     (f) If nothing is found:
     (g) If the IP check valve is not faulty:
     (h) If the fault continues:
     (i) Do a Power Assurance Check AMM 71-00-00-710-008.
   (2) If the engine stalled during an accel with no recovery or with recovery but abnormal engine parameters for the remaining of the flight:
     (a) Do a check of the engine for Foreign Object Damage (FOD) or bird strike AMM 72-00-00-200-001.
     (b) Do a check of the engine exhaust and stage 4 LPT blades for metallic debris presence.
     (c) do an inspection of the magnetic chip detectors AMM 79-21-10-210-002,
     (d) Do a borescope inspection of the stage 4 booster blades (borescope port S0) AMM 72-21-00-290-001 and stage 1, 3, 8 HP Compressor blades (borescope ports S1, S3, S8) AMM 72-31-00-290-001
     (e) Do a borescope inspection of the HPT blades and stage 1 LPT blades (borescope port S17) AMM 72-52-00-290-001 and AMM 72-54-00-290-001.
     (f) If nothing is found:
  • Check the Post Flight Report of the leg corresponding to the stall occurance and FADEC Scheduled Maintenance Report AMM 73-21-60-740-007 for failure messages including the following words: VSV , T12 , T25 , PS3 , HMU (FMV) from the day the stall occured.
     (g) If one of those messages is present:
     (h) If none of those messages is present:
  • Do a visual check of the VSV cinematic system (actuators linkage, bolting, bellcranks, etc)
     (i) Do a Power Assurance Check AMM 71-00-00-710-008.
Subtask 73-00-00-810-115-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Do the following Trouble Shooting

SB CFM 72-0391

   (1) If engine is affected by SB CFM 72-0391, do a borescope inspection of the stage 5 booster blades (borescope port S05) AMM 72-21-00-290-003 at first maintenance opportunity within 25 hours or 10 cycles (whichever comes first), then proceed with the following procedure.

END OF SB CFM 72-0391

   (2) Following trouble shooting procedure should be carried out for cases as defined in the title and for cases if crew reported audible engine stall while no ECAM warning ENG 1(2) STALL was set. This procedure covers stall conditions that occured at N2 speed at or above idle. For engine stall during start, refer to (Ref. TSM TASK 80-00-00-810-833).
     (a) Do a check of the engine for Foreign Object Damage (FOD) or bird strike AMM 72-00-00-200-006.
1 Include blacklight inspection of engine fan face to show a hit from a soft body.
     (b) Do a check of the Engine Exhaust and Stage 4 LPT Blades for metallic debris presence.
     (c) Do an inspection of the Electrical Master Chip Detectors (EMCD) AMM 79-00-00-281-002.
     (d) Do a borescope inspection of the Stage 4 Booster Blades (borescope port S0) AMM 72-21-00-290-003.
     (e) Do an inspection of the High Pressure Compressor Rotor Assembly AMM 72-31-00-290-002.
     (f) Do a borescope inspection of the HPT Blades AMM 72-52-00-290-001 and Stage 1 LPT Blades AMM 72-54-00-290-005.
     (g) If nothing is found:
Check the Post Flight Report of the leg corresponding to the stall occurrence and FADEC Scheduled Maintenance Report AMM 73-21-60-740-028 for failure messages including the following words: VSV , T12 , T25 , PS3 , HMU (FMV) VBV , RACSB or TBV or NACTB from the day the stall occurred.
     (h) If one of those messages is present:
1 Do the applicable trouble shooting procedure (Ref. TSM TASK 70-00-00-810-801).
     (i) If none of those messages are present:
1 Actuate the VSV system to the full open position to check that the system operates smoothly without any binding per AMM 72-31-00-290-002.
       2 If nothing is found:
3 If the IP check valve is not faulty:
       4 If nothing is found:
5 If the T25 Sensor is not faulty:
