A. Not Applicable
NOTE: The Electronic Engine Control (EEC) channel A or channel B has reported a decrease in N1 (low rotor speed) or N2 (high rotor speed) speed that has led to a shaft shear event. After detection of a shaft shear event, the engine shuts down to prevent an overspeed condition.
4. Fault Isolation
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE AFTER SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE CAN STAY HOT FOR A LONG TIME. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS WARNING, INJURY CAN OCCUR.
WARNING: REFER TO THE MSDS FOR ALL MATERIAL USED AND THE MANUFACTURER'S SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR ALL EQUIPMENT USED. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS WARNING, INJURY CAN OCCUR.
Subtask 72-00-00-810-065-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Do the steps that follow:
   (1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors AMM 78-36-00-010-802.
   (2) Rotate the fan in the counter clockwise direction by hand. Look and see if the Low Pressure Turbine (LPT) rotates at the same time.
     (a) If the LPT does not rotate at the same time the fan is rotated by hand remove the engine from service.
     (b) If the LPT does rotate at the same time the fan is rotated by hand, go to the next step.
   (3) Use a WRENCH - STANDARD on the N2 crankpad to rotate the engine AMM 72-00-00-400-805.
     (a) Do a borescope inspection of the engine to make sure that the High Pressure Compressor (HPC) and the High Pressure Turbine (HPT) rotates when the engine is turned using a tool on the N2 crankpad.
     (b) If the HPC and the HPT do not rotate at the same time, remove the engine from service.
     (c) If the HPC and the HPT rotate at the same time, go to the next step.
   (4) If the inspection steps show that the engine rotation tests are OK, contact Pratt & Whitney for further instructions before the next engine run is attempted.

B. Repair Confirmation
   (1) If it is determined that it is OK to run the engine, do an engine run to idle AMM 71-00-00-860-822 or AMM 71-00-00-860-823.
   (2) Shutdown the engine AMM 71-00-00-860-814.
   (3) On MCDU screen, check that the fault is not displayed on ground scanning report.
5. Close-up
Subtask 72-00-00-860-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the thrust reverser cowl-doors AMM 78-36-00-410-802.
