A. Maintenance Action
(1) If the APU last leg report gives the maintenance message:

IGNITION UNIT (8030KM) / FUEL CTL UNIT (8022KM):
Fault Code Number: 042
Additionally:
Fault Code Number: 081 or 083

NOTE: FCN 081 or 083 on Class 3 Faults Page.

NOTE: The APU SHUTDOWNS report gives the maintenance message:
NO FLAME - IGNITION UNIT (8030KM) / FUEL CTL UNIT (8022KM)

Replace the ELECTRONIC CONTROL BOX [59KD] AMM 49-61-34-000-002 and AMM 49-61-34-400-002.

(2) If the APU last leg report gives the maintenance message:

IGNITION UNIT (8030KM) / FUEL CTL UNIT (8022KM):
Fault Code Number: 042

NOTE: The APU SHUTDOWNS report gives the maintenance message:
NO FLAME - IGNITION UNIT (8030KM) / FUEL CTL UNIT (8022KM)

NOTE: If no more fault codes are shown and the unsatisfactory start attempt gets 16%-18% speed with no EGT Increase, wait more than 1 minute for a subsequent start attempt to let the fuel drain from the combustor. Do not do more than 3 APU start attempts one after the other within 1 hour.

Remove the obstruction in the air inlet.

(a) If the fault continues:

Replace the IGNITER PLUGS AMM 49-41-41-000-003 and AMM 49-41-41-400-002.

1 If the fault continues:

Do a check and repair the wiring from the ECB (59KD) AB/F7, F6 to the IGNITION UNIT (8030KM) P10/1, 2 ASM 496102 ESPM 2052210 ESPM 2053210 ESPM 205321A.

a If the fault continues:

Replace the IGNITION UNIT (8030KM) AMM 49-41-38-000-002 and AMM 49-41-38-400-002.

b If the fault continues:

Replace the ELECTRICAL LEADS AMM 49-41-43-000-002 and AMM 49-41-43-400-002.

c If the fault continues:

Replace the FUEL FLOW DIVIDER (8024KM) AMM 49-32-12-000-002 and AMM 49-32-12-400-002.

d If the fault continues:

Do a check of the PILOT FUEL NOZZLES AMM 49-31-41-200-003.

e If the fault continues:

Replace the FUEL CONTROL UNIT (8022KM) AMM 49-32-11-000-002 and AMM 49-32-11-400-002.

f If the fault continues:
Interrogate CFDS for APU fault message. Use prompts (>) to go to the fault conditions screen AMM 49-73-00-00-.

Print Fault Condition Screen and review APU speed (NA).

If speed (NA) is less than 15%:
. Do the TSM procedure (Ref. TSM TASK 49-00-81-810-900).
If speed (NA) is more than or equal to 15%:
. Replace the ELECTRONIC CONTROL BOX [59KD] AMM 49-61-34-000-002 and AMM 49-61-34-400-002.

g If the fault continues:

Replace the APU [4005KM] AMM 49-11-11-000-003 and AMM 49-11-11-400-003.

B. Do the test given in Para. 3.
