A. Test
(1) If fuel is found in the leak monitor 184QM during the procedure, AMM 28-11-00-200-003 or AMM 28-28-00-200-003 complete the procedure and do the check of leak monitor 185QM to make sure that the source of the leak is correctly identified as the ACT shrouded fuel pipes.
(2) If fuel is in the:
(a) Leak Monitor 184QM, do Para. 4.A.
4. Fault Isolation(1) If fuel is found in the leak monitor 184QM during the procedure, AMM 28-11-00-200-003 or AMM 28-28-00-200-003 complete the procedure and do the check of leak monitor 185QM to make sure that the source of the leak is correctly identified as the ACT shrouded fuel pipes.
(2) If fuel is in the:
(a) Leak Monitor 184QM, do Para. 4.A.
NOTE: This shows that there is a leak from the shrouded ACT fuel transfer or vent pipes.
(b) Leak Monitor 185QM, do (Ref. TSM TASK 28-11-00-810-802). NOTE: This shows that there is a leak into the cavity/interspace between the ACT fuel bladder and the rigid structure.

A. Procedure
(1) Three Trouble-shooting options/routes are provided in this procedure (a), (b) or (c). The decision which procedure to use can only be made by the engineer/mechanic assigned to the reported fuel leak.
Read steps (a), (b) and (c) before continuing.
(a) In usual operation fuel is transfered into an ACT (during refuel) and out of an ACT (during forward transfer) through the transfer line. The vent line will normally remain dry unless there is an over fill of an ACT during a pressure refuel. The probability is therefore that if fuel shows in the leak monitor 184QM, do step (2) first, and if the fault continues (or occured during a refuel - ACT over fill) do step (3).
(b) Use the procedure that follows to do a check for leaks in the ACT transfer line (by transferring fuel through it).
1 Place a large container (40 gall drum) below the fuel mast.
2 Do a fuel transfer from a wing tank to an ACT AMM 28-25-00-869-001.
3 Examine the drain mast to see if fuel is discharged.
a If fuel shows from the drain mast, stop the fuel transfer, and do step (2).
b If no fuel shows from the drain mast, stop the fuel transfer, and do step (3).
(c) Use the procedure that follows to do a check for leaks in the ACT transfer line (by using the wing tank pumps to pressurize it).
1 Place a large container (40 gall drum) below the fuel mast.
2 Remove the ACTUATOR-FUEL TRANSFER VALVE, ACT 6QH AMM 28-28-53-000-001
3 Manually set the VALVE-FUEL TRANSFER, ACT 165QM to the refuel (shut) position.
4 On the panel 40VU, push in the R TK PUMP 1 and 2 P/BSWs.
Make sure that the FAULT lights (legends) are off.
7 Push in, and hold, the manual plunger of the refuel valve.
9 If fuel shows from the drain mast:
a Release the refuel manual plunger.
b Set the fuel pumps to OFF.
c Set the defuel/transfer valve to closed.
d Do to step (2).
10 If fuel does not show from the drain mast:
a Wait 5 minutes.
b Release the refuel manual plunger.
c Set the fuel pumps to OFF.
d Set the defuel/transfer valve to closed.
e Do a check of the Leak Monitor 184QM AMM 28-11-00-200-003.
f If leak monitor 184QM:
(a) Remove (and dismantle) the fuel-transfer line AMM 28-11-27-000-001.
(b) Examine the fuel-transfer pipe and connections for unserviceable items that can cause the leak:
(d) Install the fuel-transfer line AMM 28-11-27-400-001.
(e) Do the Leak Test of the ACT 1 Fuel/Vent System and Pressurization System AMM 28-28-00-790-004.
(f) Set the aircraft for the Functional Test of the Vent/Transfer Pipe Shrouds AMM 28-28-00-790-004 AMM 28-28-00-790-005.
1 Connect the Ground Pressure Generator (GPG) as given but with the adapation that follows.
2 Disconnect the transfer drain-line and install the necessary blanks to do the test on the ACT Fuel-Transfer Line shroud only.
3 If the ACT Fuel-Transfer Line shroud:
a Fails the referenced AMM Task, in step (f), repeat steps (a) thru (d).
b Passes the referenced AMM Task, in step (f), do the test AMM 28-11-00-200-003 or AMM 28-28-00-200-003.
(3) ACT Vent Line Leak
(a) Remove (and dismantle) the vent line AMM 28-11-27-000-001.
(b) Examine the vent pipe and connections for unserviceable items that can cause the leak:
(d) Install the vent line AMM 28-11-27-400-001.
2 Disconnect the vent drain-line and install the necessary blanks to do the test on the ACT Vent Line shroud only.
3 If the ACT Vent Line shroud:
a Fails the referenced AMM Task, in step (f), repeat steps (a) thru (d).
b Passes the referenced AMM Task, in step (f), do the test AMM 28-11-00-200-003 or AMM 28-28-00-200-003.
5. Close-up(1) Three Trouble-shooting options/routes are provided in this procedure (a), (b) or (c). The decision which procedure to use can only be made by the engineer/mechanic assigned to the reported fuel leak.
