Fuel - Leak Monitor 185QM (ACT Cavity) Shows Leakage

TASK 28-11-00-810-802-A
Fuel - Leak Monitor 185QM (ACT Cavity) Shows Leakage

WARNING: OBEY THE FUEL SAFETY PROCEDURES.
1. Possible Causes
  • (shrouded) fuel/vent pipe connections between the ACT 1 and ACT 2

Subtask 28-11-00-710-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Test
   (1) If fuel is found in the leak monitor 185QM during the procedure AMM 28-11-00-200-003 or AMM 28-28-00-200-003 complete the procedure and do the check of leak monitor 184QM to make sure that the source of the leak is correctly identified as the ACT cavity/interspace.
   (2) If fuel is in the:
     (a) Leak Monitor 185QM, do Para. 4.A.
NOTE: This shows that there is a leak into the cavity/interspace between the ACT fuel bladder and the rigid structure.
     (b) Leak Monitor 184QM, do (Ref. TSM TASK 28-28-00-810-837).
NOTE: This shows that there is a leak from the shrouded ACT fuel transfer or vent pipes.
4. Fault Isolation
Subtask 28-11-00-810-051-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Procedure
   (1) To identify which ACT is the source of the leak, do an examination of aircraft technical log and pilots reports.
     (a) If ACT 2 or ACT 1 do not transfer fuel forward in automatic mode, do the related step (2)(a) or (2)(b) for the applicable ACT.
     (b) If no ACT fuel transfer failures are reported, do all of step (2).
   (2) Examination of each ACT cavity drain line.
     (a) Get access to ACT 2 cavity drain (flexible hose) connection AMM 28-11-27-000-001.
1 Place a suitable container below the flexible hose to collect the fuel that can drain (escape) in the next step.
2 Disconnect, with care, the flexible hose to see if there is fuel leakage.
3 If fuel shows from the disconnected flexible hose:
a Get access to the (shrouded) fuel/vent pipe connections between the ACT 1 and ACT 2 AMM 28-00-00-000-001.
b Remove and replace the O-rings AMM 28-00-00-000-001 and AMM 28-00-00-400-001.
c If the fault continues, do step (3).
     (b) Get access to ACT 1 cavity drain (flexible hose) connection AMM 28-11-27-000-001.
1 Place a suitable container below the flexible hose to collect the fuel that can drain (escape) in the next step.
2 Disconnect, with care, the flexible hose to see if there is fuel leakage.
3 If fuel shows from the disconnected flexible hose, do step (3).
   (3) Replace the ACT that shows a fuel leak AMM 28-11-27-000-001 and AMM 28-11-27-400-001.
