B. Test
WARNING: DO NOT CLOSE AN OPEN (TRIPPED) CIRCUIT BREAKER RELATED TO A FUEL-PUMP. IF YOU CLOSE THE CIRCUIT BREAKER, THERE IS A RISK:
  • OF FIRE OR OF AN EXPLOSION
  • OF DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT WIRING AND STRUCTURE.
   (1) Examine the C/B-ACT PUMP SUPPLY (25QH).
   (2) If the C/B-25QH:
     (a) Is open (tripped), do the procedure Fuel Pumps - ACT Manual Transfer Pump, Power Supply - C/B-25QH Tripped (Ref. TSM TASK 28-28-00-810-824).
     (b) Is closed (set):
1 Do a check of the three leak monitors (Ref. TSM TASK 28-13-00-810-801).
2 If you find fuel in a leak monitor, do the related trouble-shooting (Ref. TSM TASK 28-13-00-810-801).
NOTE: It is important to make sure that there are no fuel leaks in the ACT system assemblies before you do the test that follows.
3 Do the Operational Test of the ACT Manual Transfer System AMM 28-28-00-710-001.
NOTE: The PUMP-FUEL TRANSFER, ACT (1QH) operates independently of system inhibits.
NOTE: If the fuel pump motor (1QH) can be heard to operate it does not necessarily operate correctly. The impeller or inducer can be damaged.
NOTE: If the center tank is full of fuel it will inhibit/stop a manual transfer by keeping the sequence related ACT inlet valve closed (when the aircraft is on the ground).
In a similar manner a failure to energize the 501PP FUELLING BUS 28VDC, will cause the center tank high level channel LS7 of the sensor (20QJ) (in the FLSCU-1 (7QJ)) to give a false WET output (not powered - de-energized condition).
It is therefore important to make sure that the REFUEL panel door 192MB/522KB/622KB is open during the operational test.
OR (if possible/installed)
The P/BSW-REFUEL PWR (23QU) is set to on.
NOTE: The P/BSW-FUEL/ACT/AUTO (24QH) FAULT legend/light can come on for up to approximately ten (10) minutes if it is necessary for the fuel pump (impeller type) to prime/reprime the system. When the fuel pressure builds up sufficiently to operate the pressure switch (by the action of the ACT fuel transfer pump), the FAULT legend will go off.
During flight or flight simulation the FAULT legend/light operation is inhibited until at least one of the ACT 1 low level sensors has been dry for four (4) minutes.
The four minute delay is the sum of the relay operation as follows the:
  • RELAY-LO LVL SENSE, ACT 1 (3QH), one (1) minute
  • RELAY-LO PRESSURE DELAY (27QH), three (3) minutes.
4. Fault Isolation

A. Procedure
NOTE: This procedure is only applicable when an ACT 1 and an ACT 2 are installed and the two are configured for operation.
   (1) If necessary, remove the applicable protective covers as follows the:
   (2) On the FUEL System Display:
  • Examine the center tank, the ACT 1 and the ACT 2 fuel quantity indications (FQIs) and make a note of their amounts. This is to see which of the ACTs will be selected to transfer fuel forward.
NOTE: In normal operation ACT 2 fuel is used before ACT 1 fuel.
   (3) Connect the RIN28108706000 TESTBOX-ACT 802VU, to the RELAY PANEL (802VU):
  • Use a clamp to connect the test box to the nearest bonding cable to electrically ground it.
NOTE: The lights on the test box will come on if there is 28VDC on the applicable pin.
   (4) Do a check of the light next to Sequence Relay 18QH (Pin E) on the relay test box.
     (a) If the light is not on and the ACT 2, FQI is more than/or approximately 100 kg (220 lb):
NOTE: This indicates that the RELAY-18QH is in the ACT 2 position.
  • Do step (5).
NOTE: This indicates that the RELAY-18QH is in the ACT 2 position.
     (b) If the light is on and the ACT 2, FQI is more than 100 kg (220 lb):
     (c) If the light is off and the ACT 2, FQI is less than 100 kg (220 lb):
     (d) If the LED is ON and the ACT 2, FQI is approximately/or less than 100 kg (220.4622 lb):
NOTE: This indicates that the RELAY-18QH is in the ACT 1 position.
  • Do step (6).
   (5) Examine the see/feel indicator positions of the actuators shown in the table that follows.
