A. Test
   (1) Make sure you obey the steps in the Pressure Refuel with Automatic Control AMM 12-11-28-650-003.
NOTE: It is not possible to refuel the ACT 1 or the ACT 2 if the P/BSW-FUEL/ACT/AUTO (24QH) is set to the FWD (pushed in), manual transfer position.
NOTE: The ACT 2 Inlet Valve Actuator (5QH2) will not open if the ACT 2 is full of fuel (high level sensor wet).
   (2) Do the Operational Test of the Refuel System AMM 28-25-00-710-003.
   (3) If the PRESELECTED fuel quantity value, on the preselector, does not increase when the INC/DEC swich is set to INC, go to Para. 4.A.(4).
NOTE: You can get more data of the ACT System in the:
  • Description and Operation (D and O) section of the Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM) Chap, 28-25-00, the Refuel Defuel System
  • AMM Chap, 28-28-00, the Additional Center Tank (ACT) Transfer System

A. Procedure
   (1) If the wing or center tanks fail to refuel in Auto Control:
NOTE: This procedure is for ACT 2 Auto Refuel only.
   (2) If the fault continues:
   (3) If the ACT 2 fails to refuel in manual control:
   (4) If the fault continues in Auto Control, do a check of the RELAY-CTL HI LVL, IND ACT2 (57QJ) and replace if necessary ASM 284601.
   (5) If the fault continues in Auto Control:
NOTE: The step (5) has been included because it is important to make sure that the FQIC is serviceable before you start more steps.
   (6) Do the test given in Para. 3.A.(2).
   (7) If the ACT Auto Refuel operates correctly:
   (8) If the fault continues:
   (9) Make sure that the FQIS Refuel Mode is on (as seen by the FQIC) as follows:
  • the refuel door (192MB/522KB/622KB) to the CTL PNL-REFUEL/DEFUEL (800VU) is open
  • the refuel mode select switch is set to REFUEL
  • the refuel valve switches are all set to NORM
  • the Preselected Fuel Quantity (PFQ) is set to the maximum value
  • the ACT 1 and 2 are not full of fuel.
     (a) Do the Interrogation of the FQIS Input Parameters Page 4 AMM 28-42-00-740-003.
NOTE: The FQIS Input Parameter Pages are automatically updated, without a manual input from the MCDU (CFDS), at a rate of once every 5.5 seconds.
     (b) Examine the bit locations that follow and make sure that they all show a one (1).
       1 FQIC Inputs:
  • A7 (left refuel valve switch 5QU is set to normal)
  • B7 (center refuel valve switch 4QU is set to normal)
  • C7 (right refuel valve switch 6QU is set to normal)
  • D7 (ACT 1 refuel valve switch 40QU is set to normal)
  • E7 (ACT 2 refuel valve switch 42QU is set to normal)
  • E2 (refuel switch 3QU is set to REFUEL, and FQIC refuel mode active)
  • Q2 (only when preselector 5QT set to INC/increment).
     (c) If all the inputs are as specified:
  • go to step (17).
     (d) If an input is not as specified, go to the step shown in the table that follows.
