A. TEST
During aircraft operations on the ground and in flight, it is possible for fuel to get into the vent/surge-tank. If this occurs during normal(serviceable) operation the jet pump (69QM) let the fuel move back into the related wing-tank.

If the jet pump becomes unserviceable, fuel can collect in the related vent/surge-tank. The collected fuel quantity will increase (cumulatively in separate, successive additions) until the status of the related sensor 28QJ2 changes from dry to wet.
This can cause the two related results that follow:
  • The ECAM warning 'FUEL R WING TK OVERFLOW' will be given, if in an applicable flight phase
  • The P/BSW-FUEL/CTR TK/PUMP2 (34QA) FAULT legend will light, if it was set to the on (pushed in) position.

NOTE: : You can get more data from the Aircraft Schematic Manual (ASM) ASM 282601 ASM 284603 and 284604.

   (1) If the FAULT legend of the P/BSW-34QA comes on, set the P/BSW to off (released out) to prevent a possible fuel spill.
   (2) Make sure that the C/Bs 31QA and 32QA are closed.

NOTE: : The 28VDC supplies related to this procedure are as follows:
  • C/B-31QA supplies the FAULT indication circuit in the P/BSW-FUEL/CTR TK/PUMP2 (34QA)
  • C/B-32QA supplies the level sensor 28QJ2 channel in the FLSCU-2.
   (3) Do the Function (Bite) Test of the FLSS AMM 28-46-00-740-001.
   (4) Examine the FLSS STATUS page for the message 284616 R SURGE SENSOR 28QJ2:
     (a) If the message:
  • Is shown, do step (5) and then do step (6)
  • Is not shown, do step (6).
   (5) Do the TSM procedure (Ref. TSM TASK 28-46-00-810-812).
   (6) Do the Operational Test of the Main Fuel-Pump system AMM 28-21-00-710-007.
     (a) If a new fault occurs or shows during the Operational Test:
  • Refer to Troubleshooting, Fault Symptoms with the new related fault symptom(s) to find the applicable TSM procedure.
     (b) If the test operates as specified, do the steps given in Para. 4.A.
4. Fault Isolation

A. Procedure

   (1) Get access to the right wing fuel-tank inboard side of Rib 22 AMM 28-12-00-200-001.
   (2) Inspect the Tank Venting System AMM 28-12-00-200-001 and replace, if necessary, the items that follow
   (3) Do the TSM procedure (Ref. TSM TASK 31-55-00-810-801) for SDAC-1 [1WV1] and SDAC-2 [1WV2] .
   (4) If the fault continues, do the Fault Isolation Procedure (in Para. 4.A) of :
   (5) If the fault continues:
