Rig the Starter Ducts
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

Subtask 80-13-49-941-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 80-13-49-010-057-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):
(a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

(b) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)
447AL 448AR.
(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position.
Subtask 80-13-49-210-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):
(a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

(b) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position.
C. Make sure that the Following Couplings and Nuts are Loosened
(1) Make sure that the couplings (1), (7), (9) and (10) are loosened but are sufficiently tight to hold the ducts (4) and (11) in position.
(2) Loosen the nuts (24), (25), (28) and (29).
4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the couplings (1), (7), (9) and (10) are loosened but are sufficiently tight to hold the ducts (4) and (11) in position.
(2) Loosen the nuts (24), (25), (28) and (29).
Subtask 80-13-49-820-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Adjust the ducts (4) and (11) to get the correct clearance. Set the length of the bearing link assemblies (2), (3), (5) and (6) for the initial installation.
PRE SBE 80-0022
(1) Set the total length of bearing link assembly (2) 4.65 in. (118 mm).
(2) Set the total length of bearing link assembly (3) 5.55 in. (141 mm).
(3) Set the total length of bearing link assembly (5) 3.04 in. (77.2 mm).
(4) Set the total length of bearing link assembly (6) 4.59 in. (116.6 mm).
(5) If it is necessary, adjust the length of the bearing link assemblies (2), (3), (5) and (6) to let the bearings turn freely.
END OF PRE SBE 80-0022
Subtask 80-13-49-820-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL PRE SBE 80-0022
(1) Set the total length of bearing link assembly (2) 4.65 in. (118 mm).
(2) Set the total length of bearing link assembly (3) 5.55 in. (141 mm).
(3) Set the total length of bearing link assembly (5) 3.04 in. (77.2 mm).
(4) Set the total length of bearing link assembly (6) 4.59 in. (116.6 mm).
(5) If it is necessary, adjust the length of the bearing link assemblies (2), (3), (5) and (6) to let the bearings turn freely.
NOTE: Pre SB 70-0734 only: If it is necessary, install the brackets (22) and (23) in the opposite direction to help rig the ducts. This is also applicable for the brackets (26) and (27).
(6) Do not cause the ducts to be stressed. NOTE: Do not lock the bearing link assemblies at this time.

B. Adjust the ducts (4) and (11) to get the correct clearance. Set the length of the turnbuckle link assemblies (2) and (3) and the bearing link assemblies (5) and (6) for the initial installation.
POST SBE 80-0022
(1) Remove the nuts (24) and (25), the bolts (30) and (31), the washers (32) and (33) and the bushes (34) and (35) from the turnbuckle link assemblies (2) and (3).
(2) Remove the nuts (28) and (29), the bolts (38) and (39), the washers (40) and (41) and the bushes (42) and (43) from the bearing links (5) and (6).
(3) Adjust the central adjustment nut and set the total length of turnbuckle link assembly (2) to 4.65 in. (118 mm).
(4) Adjust the central adjustment nut and set the total length of turnbuckle link assembly (3) to 5.55 in. (141 mm).
(5) If necessary, adjust the turnbuckle link assemblies (2) and (3) to the minimum length the bolts (30) and (31) can be installed. Install the bolts (30) and (31), bushes (34) and (35), washers (32) and (33) and nuts (24) and (25) (Ref. AMM TASK 80-13-49-400-010).
(6) TORQUE the central adjustment nut on the turnbuckle link assemblies (2) and (3) to between 27.5 and 22.5 lbf.in (0.31 and 0.25 m.daN )
. Apply the torque to decrease the length of the turnbuckle link assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
(8) Adjust the central adjustment nut and set the total length of the bearing link assembly (5) to 3.04 in. (77.2 mm).
(10) If necessary, adjust the bearing link assemblies (5) and (6) to the minimum length the bolts (38) and (39) can be installed.
(11) Decrease the length of the bearing link assembly (5). Apply one half turn (180 degrees) in a clockwise direction. This will cause a positive axial preload when the link is re-installed.

Subtask 80-13-49-220-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL POST SBE 80-0022
(1) Remove the nuts (24) and (25), the bolts (30) and (31), the washers (32) and (33) and the bushes (34) and (35) from the turnbuckle link assemblies (2) and (3).
(2) Remove the nuts (28) and (29), the bolts (38) and (39), the washers (40) and (41) and the bushes (42) and (43) from the bearing links (5) and (6).
(3) Adjust the central adjustment nut and set the total length of turnbuckle link assembly (2) to 4.65 in. (118 mm).
(4) Adjust the central adjustment nut and set the total length of turnbuckle link assembly (3) to 5.55 in. (141 mm).
(5) If necessary, adjust the turnbuckle link assemblies (2) and (3) to the minimum length the bolts (30) and (31) can be installed. Install the bolts (30) and (31), bushes (34) and (35), washers (32) and (33) and nuts (24) and (25) (Ref. AMM TASK 80-13-49-400-010).
(6) TORQUE the central adjustment nut on the turnbuckle link assemblies (2) and (3) to between 27.5 and 22.5 lbf.in (0.31 and 0.25 m.daN )
. Apply the torque to decrease the length of the turnbuckle link assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013). NOTE: Do not lock the central adjustment nut at this time.
(7) Do a check of bearing link assemblies (5) and (6) (Ref. AMM TASK 80-13-49-200-010). (8) Adjust the central adjustment nut and set the total length of the bearing link assembly (5) to 3.04 in. (77.2 mm).
NOTE: The bearing link assembly (5) may require full adjustment to make the total length of the link as short as possible.
(9) Adjust the central adjustment nut and set the total length of the bearing link assembly (6) to 4.59 in. (116.6 mm). (10) If necessary, adjust the bearing link assemblies (5) and (6) to the minimum length the bolts (38) and (39) can be installed.
(11) Decrease the length of the bearing link assembly (5). Apply one half turn (180 degrees) in a clockwise direction. This will cause a positive axial preload when the link is re-installed.
NOTE: Make sure you make a reference mark on the bearing link assemblies before you make the adjustment.
NOTE: Do not lock the bearing link assemblies at this time.
(12) Decrease the length of the bearing link assembly (6). Apply one full turn (360 degrees) in a clockwise direction. This will cause a positive axial preload when the link is re-installed. NOTE: Make sure you make a reference mark on the bearing link assemblies before you make the adjustment.
NOTE: Do not lock the bearing link assemblies at this time.
(13) Install the bolts (38) and (39), bushes (42) and (43), washers (40) and (41) and nuts (28) and (29) (Ref. AMM TASK 80-13-49-400-010). END OF POST SBE 80-0022
C. Do a Check of the Clearance Around the Ducts
(1) Measure the clearance around the ducts (4) and (11) and the valve (8).
The minimum clearance must be 0.39 in. (10.0 mm).
(2) Measure the clearance between the inner surface of the fan cowl door and the ducts and their related parts. The minimum clearance must be 0.47 in. (12.0 mm).
Subtask 80-13-49-420-057-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Measure the clearance around the ducts (4) and (11) and the valve (8).
The minimum clearance must be 0.39 in. (10.0 mm).
(2) Measure the clearance between the inner surface of the fan cowl door and the ducts and their related parts. The minimum clearance must be 0.47 in. (12.0 mm).
D. Torque the couplings (1), (7), (9) and (10).
(1) TORQUE the coupling (1) to between 85 and 75 lbf.in (0.96 and 0.85 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
(2) Hit the coupling lightly in different places around the outer edge with a mallet that is not metallic.
(3) Do steps (1) and (2) again two times.
(4) TORQUE the coupling (1) for the last time to between 85 and 75 lbf.in (0.96 and 0.85 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
(5) Do again steps (1) thru (4) for couplings (7), (9) and (10).
Subtask 80-13-49-220-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) TORQUE the coupling (1) to between 85 and 75 lbf.in (0.96 and 0.85 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013). (2) Hit the coupling lightly in different places around the outer edge with a mallet that is not metallic.
(3) Do steps (1) and (2) again two times.
(4) TORQUE the coupling (1) for the last time to between 85 and 75 lbf.in (0.96 and 0.85 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013). (5) Do again steps (1) thru (4) for couplings (7), (9) and (10).
E. Do the Following Checks
(1) Do a check of the clearances around the ducts, valve, bearing link assemblies and turnbuckle link assemblies.
(a) Do again step C.
(2) Do a check of the turnbuckle link assemblies (2) and (3) and the bearing link assemblies (5) and (6).
(a) Make sure all the bearing link assembly and turnbuckle link assembly threads are in safety.
Subtask 80-13-49-420-058-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Do a check of the clearances around the ducts, valve, bearing link assemblies and turnbuckle link assemblies.
(a) Do again step C.
(2) Do a check of the turnbuckle link assemblies (2) and (3) and the bearing link assemblies (5) and (6).
(a) Make sure all the bearing link assembly and turnbuckle link assembly threads are in safety.
F. Safety the turnbuckle link assemblies (2) and (3) and the bearing link assemblies (5) and (6).
PRE SBE 80-0022
(1) TORQUE the four nuts (24), (25), (28) and (29) to between 110 and 90 lbf.in (1.24 and 1.02 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
(2) Tighten and lock the connecting rod locknuts.

Subtask 80-13-49-420-059-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL PRE SBE 80-0022
(1) TORQUE the four nuts (24), (25), (28) and (29) to between 110 and 90 lbf.in (1.24 and 1.02 m.daN )

G. Safety the turnbuckle link assemblies (2) and (3) and the bearing link assemblies (5) and (6).
POST SBE 80-0022
(1) TORQUE the four nuts (24), (25), (28) and (29) to between 110 and 90 lbf.in (1.24 and 1.02 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
(2) Tighten and lock the turnbuckle link assemblies (2) and (3) and bearing link assemblies (5) and (6) locknuts, safety the locknuts with the tab washer.

(1) TORQUE the four nuts (24), (25), (28) and (29) to between 110 and 90 lbf.in (1.24 and 1.02 m.daN )
