A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010).

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.

C. Clean the starter duct
(1) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with cleaning fluid (Material No.V01-002) to clean the duct.
(2) Dry the duct with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
4. Procedure(1) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with cleaning fluid (Material No.V01-002) to clean the duct.
(2) Dry the duct with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
Subtask 80-13-49-210-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Examine the starter duct with the LIGHT SOURCE - INSPECTION and the MIRROR - INSPECTION.
(1) Examine the starter duct for security of attachment
(a) If the duct is loose, examine the bearing link assemblies (2), (3), (5) and (10) for wear and adjustment.
(b) If damage is found, reject it (them).
(c) No wear is permissible.
(2) Examine the starter duct connections for signs of leaks. No leaks are permitted
(a) If signs of leaks are found:

1 Examine the bearing link assemblies (2), (3), (5) and (10) for loss of adjustment.
END OF PRE SBE 80-0022
POST SBE 80-0022
2 Examine the turnbuckle links (2) and (3) and the connecting rod assemblies (3) and (10) for loss of adjustment.
END OF POST SBE 80-0022
3 If there is a loss of adjustment examine the bearing link assemblies for damage and wear.
4 If damage or wear is found, reject it (them).
5 Examine the couplings (1), (6), (7) and (8) for loss of torque.
6 If there is a loss of torque, examine the couplings for damage and wear.
7 If damage or wear is found, reject it (them).
8 If a discolored, marked coupling joint is found, replace the seal or packing in that joint (Ref. AMM TASK 80-13-49-000-010).
(3) Examine the general condition of the starter duct
(a) Examine the ducts (4) and (9) for cracks, dents and damage.
1 If damage, cracks or dents are found on duct (4) (Ref. CMM THD TASK 80-13-49-200-102).
2 If damage, cracks or dents are found on duct (9) (Ref. CMM THD TASK 80-13-49-200-101).
5. Close-up(1) Examine the starter duct for security of attachment
(a) If the duct is loose, examine the bearing link assemblies (2), (3), (5) and (10) for wear and adjustment.
(b) If damage is found, reject it (them).
(c) No wear is permissible.
(2) Examine the starter duct connections for signs of leaks. No leaks are permitted

(4) Remove the access platform(s).
