Removal of the Starter Duct
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
WARNING:
IF IT IS NECESSARY TO ENERGIZE THE AIRCRAFT FOR A MAINTENANCE WORK WHILE YOU DO THIS MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE, MAKE SURE THAT ONLY EXTERNAL POWER IS USED. THE USE OF APU OR ENGINE POWER CAN CAUSE PRESSURIZED AIR LEAKAGE IN THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM, AND INJURY CAN OCCUR.

Subtask 80-13-49-941-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
(4) On the APU section of OVERHEAD CTL & IND panel 25VU:
(a) Make sure that the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch is released.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the APU.
(5) On AIR COND panel 30VU:

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in to position.
4. Procedure(1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in to position.

A. Removal of the Starter Duct
(1) Remove the lower duct.
(a) Remove the coupling (6).
(b) Hold the lower duct (7) and remove the coupling (8).
(c) Remove the lower duct (7) from the engine.
(d) Remove the seals (5) and (9) from the duct (7). Discard the seals.
(2) Put blanking caps on the ends of the ducts.
(3) Remove the pneumatic starter valve (4) (Ref. AMM TASK 80-13-51-000-010).
(4) Remove the upper duct.
(a) Remove the two couplings (3).
(b) Make a note of the position of these parts. They must be put in the correct position on installation.

(c) Remove the nuts (28) and (30), the bolts (25) and (32), the washers (27) and (34), the bushes (29) and (31) and the bearing link assemblies (26) and (33) from the lower mount.

(d) Remove the nut (39), the bolt (42), the washer (40), the bush (43) and the bearing link (41) from the upper mount.
(e) Hold the duct (24) and remove the nut (37), the bolt (44), the washer (36), the bush (38) and the bearing link assembly (35) from the upper mount.

(f) Remove the nut (39), the bolt (42), the washer (40), the bush (43) and the turnbuckle link assembly (41) from the upper mount.
(g) Hold the duct (24) and remove the nut (37), the bolt (44), the washer (36), the bush (38) and the turnbuckle link assembly (35) from the upper mount.

(h) Remove the upper duct (24) from the engine.
(i) Remove the seal (1) from the upper duct (2). Discard the seal.
(1) Remove the lower duct.
(a) Remove the coupling (6).
(b) Hold the lower duct (7) and remove the coupling (8).
(c) Remove the lower duct (7) from the engine.
(d) Remove the seals (5) and (9) from the duct (7). Discard the seals.
(2) Put blanking caps on the ends of the ducts.
(3) Remove the pneumatic starter valve (4) (Ref. AMM TASK 80-13-51-000-010).
(4) Remove the upper duct.
(a) Remove the two couplings (3).
(b) Make a note of the position of these parts. They must be put in the correct position on installation.

(e) Hold the duct (24) and remove the nut (37), the bolt (44), the washer (36), the bush (38) and the bearing link assembly (35) from the upper mount.

(f) Remove the nut (39), the bolt (42), the washer (40), the bush (43) and the turnbuckle link assembly (41) from the upper mount.
(g) Hold the duct (24) and remove the nut (37), the bolt (44), the washer (36), the bush (38) and the turnbuckle link assembly (35) from the upper mount.

(h) Remove the upper duct (24) from the engine.
(i) Remove the seal (1) from the upper duct (2). Discard the seal.
