Removal of the Starter Air Duct (from the Pylon to the Starter Air Valve (SAV))

BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
WARNING:
IF IT IS NECESSARY TO ENERGIZE THE AIRCRAFT FOR MAINTENANCE WORK WHILE YOU DO THIS MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE, MAKE SURE THAT ONLY EXTERNAL POWER IS USED. THE USE OF APU OR ENGINE POWER CAN CAUSE PRESSURIZED AIR LEAKAGE IN THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM AND INJURY CAN OCCUR.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
(3) On the overhead control and indicator panel 25VU, on the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) section:
(a) Make sure that the APU MASTER SW pushbutton is released.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the APU.
Subtask 80-12-49-010-052-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) on the left side of the engine.
4. Procedure(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) on the left side of the engine.

A. Removal of the Starter Air Duct
(1) Open and remove the lower V-retainer coupling (13) that attaches the starter air duct (3) to the starter air valve (14).
(2) Remove the two bolts (17) that attach the starter air duct (3) to the support bracket (16).
(3) Remove the four bolts (6), the clamps (5) and the clamp saddles (7) that attach the starter air duct (3) to the support brackets (8).
(4) Open and remove the upper V-retainer coupling (4) that attaches the starter air duct (3) to the pylon duct elbow (1).
(5) Remove the two bolts (12) that attach the starter air duct (3) to the support bracket (11).
(6) Remove the starter air duct (3) from the engine.
(7) Remove and discard the seal (2) from the pylon duct elbow (1).
(8) Remove and discard the seal (15) from the lower end of the starter air valve (14).
(9) Install the COVER - PROTECTION and the CAP - PROTECTION on all the open ports, tubes, hoses and the disconnected connectors.
(1) Open and remove the lower V-retainer coupling (13) that attaches the starter air duct (3) to the starter air valve (14).
(2) Remove the two bolts (17) that attach the starter air duct (3) to the support bracket (16).

(6) Remove the starter air duct (3) from the engine.

(8) Remove and discard the seal (15) from the lower end of the starter air valve (14).
(9) Install the COVER - PROTECTION and the CAP - PROTECTION on all the open ports, tubes, hoses and the disconnected connectors.
