A. Clean the magnetic plug as follows:
(b) Remove magnetic particles from magnet with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) or PAPER - THIN.
(2) Clean scavenge screen.
Subtask 79-21-10-210-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
DO THIS OPERATION IN AN APPROVED CABINET OR WELL VENTILATED AREA. TAKE PRECAUTIONS TO PREVENT INHALATION OF VAPORS AND TO REDUCE FIRE HAZARDS.
REPEATED OR PROLONGED CONTACT WITH THIS MATERIAL WILL REMOVE SKIN OILS AND CAUSE SEVERE DERMATITIS.
CAUTION:
DAMAGE MAY OCCUR IF MAGNET IS SUBJECTED TO IMPACT.
(1) Remove scavenge screen from magnetic plug by using a ROD - NYLON to depress the spring-loaded pin that secures scavenge screen filter to magnetic plug. CAUTION:
DO NOT USE ANOTHER MAGNET TO REMOVE PARTICLES FROM THE DETECTOR MAGNETS. THIS CAN DECREASE THE MAGNETIC PERFORMANCE OF THE EMCD.
(a) Remove particles from the scavenge screen. (b) Remove magnetic particles from magnet with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) or PAPER - THIN.
(2) Clean scavenge screen.
CAUTION:
USE APPROVED SOLVENT ONLY. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE SCAVENGE SCREEN CAN OCCUR.
(a) Clean scavenge screen with stoddard solvent (Material No.CP2011) or acetone (Material No.CP1039) or ardrox 552 (Material No.CP2559) or turco ind 79 (Material No.CP2560) or mag-chem teksol (Material No.CP2566) or degreasol 99 R (Material No.CP2584) or mag-chem skysol (Material No.CP2656) by passing atomized solvent through filter. Flush filter with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) . B. Do the visual inspection of the "SOLOSELE G" seal:
Subtask 79-21-10-020-056-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL CAUTION:
THE "SOLOSELE G" SEAL IS NOT AN EXPENDABLE. YOU CAN USE IT AGAIN IF IT IS NOT DAMAGED (TEAR, CUT).
(1) Visually inspect the "SOLOSELE G" seal (10) for condition. C. Removal of the seal:
(1) If damaged, replace "SOLOSELE G" seal (10) as follows:
(a) Remove and discard damaged seal (10).
(b) Check the condition of the groove which accepts the seal.
(c) Install79211001-190 "SOLOSELE G" SEAL 10 in the groove using 856A2629 TOOL,SEAL FITTING-MAGNETIC PLUG LUBE UNIT (856A2629G01) coated with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
(2) Install the O-ring
(3) Install the scavenge screen.
Subtask 79-21-10-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) If damaged, replace "SOLOSELE G" seal (10) as follows:
(a) Remove and discard damaged seal (10).
(b) Check the condition of the groove which accepts the seal.
(c) Install
(2) Install the O-ring
CAUTION:
DO NOT FORGET TO INSTALL AN O-RING. THE ABSENCE OF THE O-RING CAN CAUSE IMPORTANT OIL LOSSES DURING ENGINE OPERATION WITH POSSIBLE ENGINE FAILURE.
(a) Install new AIPC 79-21-10-01-180 O-RING (20) lightly coated with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) into groove of magnetic plug. (3) Install the scavenge screen.
CAUTION:
INSTALLATION OF MAGNETIC PLUG WITHOUT O-RING CAN RESULT IN EXCESSIVE OIL LOSS DURING ENGINE OPERATION WITH POSSIBLE ENGINE FAILURE.
(a) Install scavenge screen on magnetic plug by depressing the spring-loaded pin that secures scavenge screen to magnetic plug. Slide scavenge screen over magnetic plug.Make sure that spring-loaded pin is engaged in filter hole. D. Install the magnetic plug assembly:
(2) Do not force and keep pushing inward until full insertion is obtained.
(3) Align plug keys of magnetic plug with sleeve keyways and rotate a quarter of a turn clockwise to complete engagement of keys in keyways.
(4) Make sure that magnetic plug assembly has snapped down into its lock position by pulling magnetic plug down, while lightly rotating from side to side. Flats of handle must be perpendicular to the centerline of lube unit. Magnetic plugs are provided with a red point on plug handle. The red point must face the filters.
(5) Remove container from under the magnetic plug.
5. Close-upCAUTION:
KEEP MAGNETIC PLUG ASSEMBLY ALIGNED TO PREVENT SCAVENGE SCREEN INTERFERENCE WITH LUBRICATION UNIT HOUSING.
(1) Carefully insert magnetic plug assembly into lubrication unit housing with slot opening of scavenge screen facing accessory gearbox. (2) Do not force and keep pushing inward until full insertion is obtained.
(3) Align plug keys of magnetic plug with sleeve keyways and rotate a quarter of a turn clockwise to complete engagement of keys in keyways.
