Sampling of the Engine Oil
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE AND THE ADJACENT COMPONENTS AFTER ENGINE SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE, THE ENGINE OIL AND THE ADJACENT COMPONENTS CAN STAY HOT FOR A LONG TIME. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, INJURY CAN OCCUR.
WARNING:
DO NOT REMOVE THE OIL TANK CAP OR DRAIN PLUGS UNTIL 5 MINUTES MINIMUM AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. THIS WILL LET THE OIL PRESSURE BLEED OFF. IF YOU DO NOT, YOU CAN CAUSE HOT OIL BURNS TO YOUR EYES AND SKIN.

BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) Do the procedure to prevent engine motoring
(Ref. AMM TASK 71-00-00-860-833).

B. Get Access
(a) Open the oil tank access-door on the left fan-cowl door at approximately the 9 o'clock position.
(b) Lift the lever on the oil tank cap up and turn it counterclockwise.
(c) Lift and remove the oil tank cap.
4. ProcedureCAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
(1) Open the oil tank cap as follows: (a) Open the oil tank access-door on the left fan-cowl door at approximately the 9 o'clock position.
(b) Lift the lever on the oil tank cap up and turn it counterclockwise.
(c) Lift and remove the oil tank cap.

A. Sampling of the Engine Oil
(b) Siphon engine oil from the oil tank to the BOTTLE - PLASTIC with a hose.
(c) Fill the BOTTLE - PLASTIC with engine oil.
(d) Fill the oil tank (Ref. AMM TASK 79-00-00-610-801).
(2) Install the oil tank cap as follows:
(a) Use the FLASHLIGHT and make sure that the oil-tank flapper valve (inside the fill neck) is not damaged.
(b) Examine the filler cap EIPC 79----11 PACKING-PREFORMED (1) and replace if damage is found.
(c) Align the cap to the filler neck and then push it down into place.
(d) Turn the lever counterclockwise and then push down to lock it.
(3) Close the oil tank access door.
(4) Write on the BOTTLE - PLASTIC label with aP05−423 marker, felt tip, rapid drying the information that follows:
(a) A/C registration number
(b) Engine serial number
(c) Date of sample
(d) Engine hours
(e) Amount of oil added since sample.
5. Close-upWARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU OPEN THE FLAPPER VALVE. OIL CAN SPRAY OUT WHEN THE VALVE IS FIRST OPENED. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS WARNING, HOT OIL CAN BURN YOUR EYES AND SKIN.
CAUTION:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE A SCREWDRIVER TO OPEN THE FLAPPER VALVE. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS CAUTION, DAMAGE TO THE FLAPPER VALVE CAN OCCUR.
(1) Get the engine oil sample as follows: NOTE: You must get the engine oil sample in 30 minutes or less after engine shutdown. If it is more than 30 minutes since engine shutdown, you must operate the engine so that the engine oil flows through the oil system.
NOTE: Use the new BOTTLE - PLASTIC and hose that is free of contamination for this procedure.
(a) If necessary, insert the small SCREWDRIVER through one of the 0.25 in. (6.35 mm) holes in the oil tank inlet screens and open the oil-tank flapper valve. (b) Siphon engine oil from the oil tank to the BOTTLE - PLASTIC with a hose.
(c) Fill the BOTTLE - PLASTIC with engine oil.
(d) Fill the oil tank (Ref. AMM TASK 79-00-00-610-801).
(2) Install the oil tank cap as follows:
(a) Use the FLASHLIGHT and make sure that the oil-tank flapper valve (inside the fill neck) is not damaged.
