Removal of the Thrust Reverser Opening Actuator
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
WARNING:
DO NOT LET ENGINE OIL STAY ON YOUR SKIN FOR A LONG TIME. FLUSH THE OIL FROM YOUR SKIN WITH WATER. THE OIL IS POISONOUS AND CAN GO THROUGH YOUR SKIN AND INTO YOUR BODY.
CAUTION:
DO NOT LET ENGINE FUEL OR OIL FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED FUEL OR OIL MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FUEL OR OIL CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 78-36-51-010-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010).

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in to position.

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in to position.
C. Deactivate the thrust reverser.
Subtask 78-36-51-010-056-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Deactivate the thrust reverser hydraulic control unit (HCU) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012). D. Open the thrust reverser halves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-010-010):

Subtask 78-36-51-020-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Disconnect the hydraulic hose from the opening actuator.
(1) Remove the nut (9), the screw (6), the washer (8) and the clamp (7) that attach the flexible hose cover (11) to the opening actuator (5).
(2) Open the end cover to get access to the hose nut (10).
(3) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) under the hose connection.
(4) Disconnect the hydraulic hose (12) from the opening actuator.
(5) Remove the container and discard the drained oil.
Subtask 78-36-51-620-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the nut (9), the screw (6), the washer (8) and the clamp (7) that attach the flexible hose cover (11) to the opening actuator (5).
(2) Open the end cover to get access to the hose nut (10).
(3) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) under the hose connection.
(4) Disconnect the hydraulic hose (12) from the opening actuator.
(5) Remove the container and discard the drained oil.
B. Put the applicable COVER - BLANKING on all of the openings.
Subtask 78-36-51-020-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL C. Remove the opening actuator.
(1) Remove the nut (2), the bolt (4), the washer (18), the washer (19) and the bushing (3) that attach the actuator (5) to the mount (15).
(2) Remove the nut (17), the bolt (13), the washer (14), the washer (20) and the bushing (16) that attach the opening actuator to the pylon hinge beam (1).
(3) Remove the opening actuator.
(1) Remove the nut (2), the bolt (4), the washer (18), the washer (19) and the bushing (3) that attach the actuator (5) to the mount (15).
(2) Remove the nut (17), the bolt (13), the washer (14), the washer (20) and the bushing (16) that attach the opening actuator to the pylon hinge beam (1).
(3) Remove the opening actuator.
