C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Maintenance

WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.

(1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).

4. Procedure
Subtask 78-36-04-020-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.

A. Remove the Thrust Reverser Hold Open Rod (HOR)

NOTE: There is one HOR on each thrust reverser half. This removal procedure is the same for each HOR.

(1) Release the end of the applicable HOR (1) from the HOR stow bracket on the thrust reverser torque box.
(2) Remove the four bolts (2) and four washers (3) that attach the HOR (1) to the torque box bracket.
(3) Remove the applicable HOR (1) from the thrust reverser half.
(4) Installation of protection covers

CAUTION: INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS ON ALL THE OPENINGS IMMEDIATELY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.

(a) Make sure that you install COVER - PROTECTION as necessary to prevent damage to the engine.
