3. Job Set-up
Subtask 78-32-11-941-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

B. Make sure that:
  • the slats and flaps are retracted,
  • the throttle control levers operate at minimum power (0 degree).

C. Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) on the slats and flaps control levers to prevent use of them.

D. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowl doors: (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040)
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.

E. Make the thrust reverser unserviceable (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-481-041).

4. Procedure
Subtask 78-32-11-020-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the One or Eleven O'clock Strut and Strut Bushing from the Left or Right Half Door as follows:
   (1) Removal of the one or eleven o'clock strut bushing:
     (a) Remove and keep the screws (10) (2 positions) and the nuts (20) (2 positions).

     (b) Remove the pin (30) and the bushing (40).

     (c) Remove the pin assembly (31) from the strut (70).

   (2) Removal of the one or eleven o'clock strut:
     (a) Find the access door (50) on the pit sidewall of the 12 o'clock cut corner.
     (b) Removal of the access door:
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL NOT TO CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ATTACHING PARTS IF YOU USE A CUTTING BLADE.
       1 Remove and keep the screws (60) (5 positions).
       2 Remove and keep the access door (50).
     (c) Remove the bead of sealant (Material No.CP2243) around the strut (70) and its angle fittings.
     (d) Use an ink pen to draw the outline of the strut and its angle fittings on the 12 o'clock inner cut corner.
     (e) Remove and keep the screws (80) (4 positions), the screws (90) (4 positions), the nuts (100) (8 positions).
     (f) Removal of the strut:
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL NOT TO CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE INNER AND OUTER COWLS WHEN YOU REMOVE THE STRUT.
       1 Push the strut (70) to the aft side. Set the strut to a slope position and remove the strut.

B. Cleaning
   (1) Cleaning of the areas:
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
     (a) Clean the areas where you removed the sealant with acetone (Material No.CP1039) or stoddard solvent (Material No.CP2011) or ardrox 552 (Material No.CP2559) or turco ind 79 (Material No.CP2560) or mag-chem teksol (Material No.CP2566) or degreasol 99 R (Material No.CP2584) or mag-chem skysol (Material No.CP2656) or isopropyl alcohol (Material No.CP1041) .
   (2) Dry the areas with a clean cloth.
