Removal of the Lower Rod Supply Hose

WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TUBE COUPLING NUTS:

ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION, AND
ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT.

THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE PARTS.

3. Job Set-up

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors: (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040)

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.

C. Make the thrust reverser unserviceable (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-481-041)

D. Deploy the blocker door manually (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-41-860-001).

4. Procedure
Subtask 78-31-49-020-096-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

A. Removal of the Lower Rod Supply Hose
(1) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) under the lower hydraulic actuator to catch drained fluid.
(2) Disconnect the lower rod supply hose from the actuator and let the hydraulic fluid drain into the container.
(3) Remove the bolts and the nuts that attach the lower head shield to the forward frame.
(4) Disconnect the lower rod supply hose from the lower rod swivel joint.
(5) Remove the lower rod supply hose from the forward frame.
(6) Put COVER - PROTECTION on the open connections.
