Installation of the Ignition Exciter
WARNING:
BEFORE YOU START WORK ON THE IGNITION SYSTEM, MAKE SURE THAT THE IGNITION EXCITERS ARE DE-ENERGIZED FOR A MINIMUM OF FIVE MINUTES. ALSO DO NOT TOUCH THE ELECTRICAL CONTACTS.
THE IGNITION SYSTEM VOLTAGE IS VERY HIGH, AND THE IGNITION EXCITERS CAN HAVE AN ELECTRICAL CHARGE EVEN WHEN NOT ENERGIZED. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE PRECAUTIONS, INJURY CAN OCCUR.

A. Install the Upper and Lower Ignition Exciters:
(1) Apply a thin layer of graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) on the threads and friction surface of the studs (10).
(2) Install the upper ignition exciter (50) on the upper studs (10) and the lower ignition exciter (110) on the lower studs (10).
(3) Place the end of the ground strap (80) on the nearest stud (10). The ground strap (80) is installed between the washer (30) and the ignition exciter (50), (110).
(4) Install the washers (30) and nuts (20) as follows:
(a) Put the washers (30) on the studs (10). Make sure the ground strap (80) is between the washers (30) and the ignition exciter (50), (110).
(b) Install the nuts (20). Do not let the stud (10) turn in the resilient mount (150). Hold the stud (10) with an open-end wrench. The wrench flats (160) are locate between the resilient mount (150) and the ignition exciter (50), (110).
(c) TORQUE the nuts (20) to between 70 and 55 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.62 m.daN )
. Hold the stud (10) and turn the nut (20).
