Removal of the Fuel Distribution Valve Filter
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL NOT TO GET AIRCRAFT FUEL IN YOUR MOUTH OR IN YOUR EYES.
IF YOU GET FUEL ON YOUR SKIN OR ON YOUR CLOTHES, FLUSH IT IMMEDIATELY WITH WATER.
IF NECESSARY, GET MEDICAL HELP.
AIRCRAFT FUEL IS POISONOUS.
CAUTION:
DO NOT LET ENGINE FUEL OR OIL FALL ON THE ENGINE. UNWANTED FUEL OR OIL MUST BE REMOVED IMMEDIATELY WITH A CLEAN LINT FREE CLOTH. THE FUEL OR OIL CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE PROTECTION AND TO SOME PARTS.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.

B. Get Access

C. Deactivate the thrust reverser.
Subtask 73-13-43-010-060-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE THRUST REVERSER HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) IS DEACTIVATED BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE HCU IS NOT DEACTIVATED, THERE IS A RISK OF UNWANTED THRUST REVERSER OPERATION WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Deactivate the thrust reverser hydraulic control unit (HCU) (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-012). D. Open the thrust reverser halves (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-00-010-010):

Subtask 73-13-43-020-058-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the fuel distribution valve filter
(1) Remove the fuel inlet line and the filter cover
(c) Seal the fuel inlet line with a cap.
(d) Remove and discard the ring (2).
(f) Remove the eight bolts (5) and the eight washers (6) that attach the filter cover and remove the filter cover (7).
(g) Remove and discard the packing (1).
(2) Remove the filter
(a) Make a loop of corrosion resistant steel lockwire (Material No.V02-141) under two of the four centering lugs on the exposed end of the filter (8).
(b) Pull on the lockwire and remove the filter from the fuel distribution valve housing (10).
(c) Remove and discard the packing (9).
(1) Remove the fuel inlet line and the filter cover
WARNING:
A SMALL QUANTITY OF FUEL WILL DRAIN FROM THE FUEL INLET LINE.
REMOVE ALL FLAMMABLE MATERIAL FROM THE AREA. DO NOT LET THE FUEL TOUCH THE EYES OR THE SKIN.
(a) Remove the three bolts (4) that hold the fuel inlet line to the filter cover (7). NOTE: Be prepared to catch the remaining fuel in a CONTAINER 20 L - SHALLOW .
(b) Move the fuel inlet line away from the filter cover far enough to drain the remaining fuel. (c) Seal the fuel inlet line with a cap.
(d) Remove and discard the ring (2).
NOTE: More remaining fuel will drain from the fuel inlet line when it is removed.
(e) Disconnect and remove the fuel inlet line from the lower bifurcation panel. (f) Remove the eight bolts (5) and the eight washers (6) that attach the filter cover and remove the filter cover (7).
(g) Remove and discard the packing (1).
(2) Remove the filter
(a) Make a loop of corrosion resistant steel lockwire (Material No.V02-141) under two of the four centering lugs on the exposed end of the filter (8).
(b) Pull on the lockwire and remove the filter from the fuel distribution valve housing (10).
(c) Remove and discard the packing (9).
